📢 With warmer weather here, we’re seeing more young riders out enjoying e-bikes throughout the community. The Rogers Police Department is asking parents and guardians to take a few moments to review e-bike safety rules with their kids before they ride this summer.

The City of Rogers follows Minnesota State Statutes for e-bikes and has two additional local safety requirements:

• Riders under 18 must wear a helmet 🚴
• E-bikes, motorized bikes, and scooters may not be operated carelessly or at unreasonable speeds 🏍️ 🛴🛵

E-bikes can go much faster than regular bikes, so it is especially important to ride safely near people, parks, neighborhoods, and roads.

Our School Resource Officers are handing out educational brochures and talking daily with students about safe riding practices. Our officers will continue their education and enforcement while out on patrol in the community to help young riders learn the rules and ride safely.

Thank you for working with us to keep everyone safe this summer!

Today, Officer Jared Peterson was honored by the I-94 West Chamber of Commerce as a First Responder Award recipient.

Officer Peterson received this recognition for his exceptional investigative work on a complex, multi state case that protected an exploited juvenile and ultimately led to federal charges, conviction, and a 14-year prison sentence for the offender. Officer Peterson’s timely intervention and coordinated efforts with partner agencies ensured the juvenile’s safety and protection from further harm, bringing this case to a successful conclusion.

Please join us in congratulating him on this well-deserved honor.
