In celebration of their 150th anniversary, Library Journal surveyed librarians, reviewers, and readers for “sure bets” – titles that are broadly popular and beloved by readers of the genre. This month, we feature a combination: poetry and graphic novels. Poetry is celebrated for the way it conveys themes and ideas in a few compelling words and arresting imagery; graphic novels (or “comic books”) can tell a story or explain a concept in just pictures and dialogue.
