Yesterday’s Tour of the Valleys Spring Safety Event was another great success! We want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who came out and participated, and a special thank you to our community partners at Sullivan County Anti-Drug Coalition, Carter’s Valley Fire Department, and Greenvale Church for helping make the event possible.

One of the biggest eye-openers of the day was our hot car demonstration. As shown in the photo, even with overcast skies and tinted windows, the temperature inside the vehicle climbed to 105°F while the outdoor temperature was only 89°F. This serves as an important reminder that a vehicle can become dangerously hot in just a matter of minutes, regardless of cloud cover or window tint.

🚗 Look Before You Lock
👶 Never leave a child or pet unattended in a vehicle
🌡️ Heatstroke can happen faster than you think

Thank you again to everyone who helped educate families and promote safety throughout our community. We look forward to seeing you at the next stop on the Tour of the Valleys!

💜 Purple Ribbon Commendation 💜

Recently, Hawkins County EMS recognized AEMT Beverly Baines and EMT Tyler Peters with a Purple Ribbon Commendation for their outstanding care, compassion, and professionalism during a critical overdose response.

Through rapid assessment, decisive treatment, and unwavering dedication, they not only helped save a life but also played a role in a patient’s journey toward recovery and a second chance. Days later, the patient personally returned to thank the crew and share that he was on the path to sobriety.

This story is a powerful reminder that EMS is about more than emergency medicine—it’s about hope, compassion, and making a difference when people need it most.

Please join us in congratulating Beverly and Tyler on this well-deserved recognition. 🚑💜

On February 25, our crews responded to a residential structure fire in Mount Carmel and were faced with one of the most challenging calls of their careers. Through exceptional teamwork, quick decision-making, and advanced lifesaving interventions, Paramedic Ronson Hill, Paramedic Samuel McMurry, AEMT Beverly Baines, AEMT Brian Griffin, and EMT Devyn Millar helped save a patient’s life against incredible odds.

Today, these dedicated professionals were recognized with a Letter of Commendation for their outstanding actions, professionalism, and commitment to patient care. We are proud to share that the patient has made a full recovery.

Please join us in congratulating these crew members for exemplifying the very best of Hawkins County EMS. 🚑❤️
