🔥🚨 FIRE SEASON HAS OFFICIALLY STARTED 🚨🔥
As of 12:01 a.m. today, fire season is now in effect on lands protected by the ODF Southwest Oregon District in Jackson and Josephine counties. With warmer, drier conditions arriving, it’s time for all of us to stay alert and do our part to prevent wildfires.
Current Status:
• Fire Danger: Low
• Industrial Fire Precaution Level (IFPL): 1
Even at Low fire danger, certain restrictions are now in place because these activities are known to spark fires:
• 🚫 No debris burning, including piles and burn barrels
• 🚫 No fireworks on or within 1/8 mile of ODF-protected land
• 🚫 Exploding targets and tracer ammunition are prohibited
Campfires & Outdoor Cooking:
• ✅ Campfires allowed in designated campgrounds, on BLM land, and on private land with permission
• ✅ Must have 1 shovel + 1 gallon of water OR a 2½ lb. fire extinguisher
• ✅ Portable stoves/fire pits using bottled fuels allowed in cleared areas*
• ✅ Charcoal/pellet BBQs allowed at well-maintained homes with a charged hose or extinguisher nearby
Other Regulations:
• 🚗 Smoking only in enclosed vehicles on improved roads, boats on water, or designated areas
• ⚡ Electric fence controllers must meet safety certifications
Cleared Area = 50 feet free of flammable vegetation in all directions
Industrial Operations:
• IFPL 1 requirements are in effect
• 👀 A Firewatch is required unless waived
