This National EMS Week, Jackson County Fire District 1 proudly recognizes the incredible dedication, compassion, and skill of our Emergency Medical Services personnel.
Every day—and often in life’s most critical moments—our EMS providers are there. Whether responding to medical emergencies, providing lifesaving care, or offering comfort in times of crisis, they embody courage and commitment to our community.
We are deeply grateful for the long hours, tireless training, and unwavering professionalism our EMS team brings to every call. Their work truly makes a difference in the lives of our residents.

🔥🚨 FIRE SEASON HAS OFFICIALLY STARTED 🚨🔥

As of 12:01 a.m. today, fire season is now in effect on lands protected by the ODF Southwest Oregon District in Jackson and Josephine counties. With warmer, drier conditions arriving, it’s time for all of us to stay alert and do our part to prevent wildfires.

Current Status:
• Fire Danger: Low
• Industrial Fire Precaution Level (IFPL): 1
Even at Low fire danger, certain restrictions are now in place because these activities are known to spark fires:

• 🚫 No debris burning, including piles and burn barrels
• 🚫 No fireworks on or within 1/8 mile of ODF-protected land
• 🚫 Exploding targets and tracer ammunition are prohibited

Campfires & Outdoor Cooking:
• ✅ Campfires allowed in designated campgrounds, on BLM land, and on private land with permission
• ✅ Must have 1 shovel + 1 gallon of water OR a 2½ lb. fire extinguisher
• ✅ Portable stoves/fire pits using bottled fuels allowed in cleared areas*
• ✅ Charcoal/pellet BBQs allowed at well-maintained homes with a charged hose or extinguisher nearby

Other Regulations:
• 🚗 Smoking only in enclosed vehicles on improved roads, boats on water, or designated areas
• ⚡ Electric fence controllers must meet safety certifications
Cleared Area = 50 feet free of flammable vegetation in all directions
Industrial Operations:
• IFPL 1 requirements are in effect
• 👀 A Firewatch is required unless waived

ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOLERS!!!

Are you interested in firefighting and hands-on career exploration? Join Rogue Community College Fire Science team this summer for our Hook & Ladder Fire Camp!

This FREE, exciting three-day camp is designed specifically for current high school juniors and seniors who want to experience what it’s like to train as a firefighter. Participants will work alongside career firefighters and take part in hands-on activities including:

• SCBA (air pack) familiarization
• Ladder deployment
• Fire hose movement and operations
• Forcible entry training
• Team-based challenges and drills
• Fire service career exploration

Camp Details:
• Dates: June 23–25, 2026, 8am-4pm
• Location: Jackson County Fire District 3 Training Grounds, White City, OR
• Lunch provided daily
• Transportation to and from camp is the responsibility of participants

This is a great opportunity to build confidence, leadership, teamwork skills, and learn more about careers in emergency services in a fun, active environment.

🚒❤️ We love our community, and we love showing up for you! ❤️🚒

Jackson County Fire District 1 is excited to support the Hearts With a Mission Superhero Run on Saturday, May 2nd at Valley of the Rogue State Park! 🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️

This is a great family-friendly event with races for all ages, fun activities, and an amazing cause. We plan to be there cheering everyone on and connecting with our community—as long as emergency calls allow. Duty always comes first, but we truly hope to see you there!
