RE: Campus Update: Air Quality Incident

Campus is open and operating as normal. We recognize that employees may notice smoky conditions or have questions about air quality, and we wanted to share the following update.

Sonoma County is currently experiencing poor air quality due to the smoke from the Woodside Fire, located about 50 miles north of campus. We are monitoring air quality conditions. Currently, the AQI on campus is 170 based on the readings the university evaluates for considering mitigation measures against wildfire smoke.

At this time, campus conditions do not warrant changes to normal operations. In the event campus air quality were to reach thresholds that require additional mitigation measures, affected departments will be contacted directly with guidance. As long as AQI exceeds 150 for 30 minutes or more, N95 masks will be made available to the campus community at Seawolf Services.

We will continue to monitor conditions closely and and will provide updates if circumstances change.

RE: Community Crime Bulletin: Arrest (Case SS26-95)

REPORTED CRIME: On June 24, 2026, at approximately 8:15 a.m., officers from the Sonoma State Police Department responded to the Art Building for a reported suspicious person. Upon contacting the individual, James Gabriel Stevenson, 35, of Cotati, officers were able to determine that he matched the description of a suspect who may have been seen in possession of a campus-owned cart that was reported stolen on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.

A subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of Stevenson for being in possession of stolen property, a switchblade knife, illegal drugs, and drug paraphernalia.

Stevenson, who is not affiliated with the campus, was booked into the Sonoma County main jail on felony and misdemeanor charges.

The stolen cart was not located, but it is believed to be in the area.

RE: TIMELY WARNING: Burglary Arrest (Case SS26-90)

This Timely Warning is being issued in compliance with the Jeanne Clery Act and the purpose is to provide preventative information to the campus community to aid members from becoming the victim of a similar crime.

REPORTED CRIME: On June 15, 2026, at approximately 4:00 AM, Sonoma State Police Department officers observed two individuals in the act of burglarizing a shed in Zinfandel Village. The individuals, David Gilliam, 44, of Petaluma, and Nicole Arrabit, 42, of Petaluma, are not affiliated with the campus.

David Gilliam was booked into the Sonoma County main jail on charges of burglary, theft with a prior charges, possession of burglary tools, false information to a police officer, and possession of a replica firearm.

Nicole Arrabit was booked into the Sonoma County main jail on charges of burglary.
