This afternoon, Lake Maumelle Fire volunteers and on-duty staff responded to Pinnacle Mountain for a reported hiker in distress.

Our firefighters, MEMS, volunteer hikers and State Park staff worked together to safely locate and carry the patient down the mountain for medical care and treatment.

A great example of teamwork between fire, EMS,park personnel and just fantastic folks that care and want to help. Thanks to all that took time to lend a hand. Sometimes it just takes a village!

Burn Ban Lifted / Burn Smart

Before you strike a match, just a quick reminder, this doesn’t mean it’s a free-for-all. Conditions can still change quickly, and it doesn’t take much for a small fire to get out of hand.

Even with recent rain, dry vegetation can still sit just beneath the surface, and a little wind and sunshine can dry things out fast.

Also worth noting:
Burning trash, garbage, or any type of waste is never permitted under Arkansas law.
Outdoor burning should only involve natural yard debris like leaves, limbs, and brush.

If you plan to burn, keep a few things in mind:
• Check the weather, avoid windy days
• Keep it small and manageable
• Have a water source ready
• Never leave it unattended
• Make sure it’s fully out before walking away

We want everyone to take advantage of the lifted restrictions safely and avoid unnecessary calls and preventable fires.

If something doesn’t look right or gets out of control, don’t hesitate to call 911. We’re here for you!

🚫 Burn Ban Still in Effect / Pulaski County 🚫

For those of you wondering, Pulaski County is still under a burn ban.

Yes, we’ve had some rain, but it hasn’t been enough to make conditions safe for outdoor burning.

Here’s why
• Ground fuels are still dry underneath. The top layer may look damp, but it doesn’t take much for fire to take hold.
• Low humidity + wind can quickly dry things back out, sometimes within hours.
• Dead grass, leaves, and brush ignite easily and spread fast.
• Control becomes difficult quickly, especially in open areas.

Even after rainfall, it doesn’t take much for things to turn dangerous again. As soon as things change, we will share the news as quickly as possible. Until then, be patient and
be safe.

🚫 PULASKI COUNTY BURN BAN IN EFFECT 🚫

A countywide burn ban has been issued for Pulaski County.

There’s a lot that goes into that decision: dry conditions, wind, fuel moisture, and overall fire risk. Right now, those factors are lining up in a way that makes any outdoor burning unsafe.

This burn ban expands that restriction across the entire county for one reason: everyone’s safety.

It doesn’t take much. A small fire can get out of hand quickly under these conditions, putting homes, property, and lives at risk.

Please help us spread the word.

Let’s keep Pulaski County safe.

Another big day for the Lake Maumelle Fire Department!

We officially took delivery of our brand-new 2025 Pierce fire engine, about as close to a twin of Engine 1 as you can get. This new addition will serve as Engine 2, replacing one of our aging units and helping us continue to provide reliable service.

A huge thank you to everyone in the Roland and Natural Steps communities. Your continued support makes upgrades like this possible, and we don’t take that for granted.

We’re proud to have some of the best, most dependable equipment in the business, and even more proud to serve the people who make it all worthwhile.

Thank you again from all of us at Lake Maumelle Fire Department, we couldn’t do it without you!

🚨 Road Hazard Advisory / Please Use Caution 🚨

Lake Maumelle Fire Department crews want to remind everyone to use extreme caution while driving tonight and into the morning. With the storms moving through and strong winds continuing, trees have fallen and may continue to fall, creating unexpected hazards in the roadway.

Late tonight, fire crews responded to Highway 300 just before North Shore Landing, where a large tree had fallen across the road. Crews worked to clear the roadway, but portions of the tree remain very close to the roadside, and additional debris may still be present.

Please slow down and stay alert when traveling in this area. Fallen limbs or trees may be difficult to see, especially in the dark or around curves.

Thank you for helping keep the roadways safe.

Lake Maumelle on-duty firefighters, along with West Pulaski Fire De partment, responded to a reported grass fire threatening a structure near near Garrison Road.

Updated information for Dispatch confirmed the fire was located on Barrett Road in the Lake Maumelle fir district tarea.

Lake Maumelle units arrived to find a privacy fence, leaves and an outbuilding on fire, threatening a nearby residence. Crews quickly went to work, making entry into the home. Although it did sustain damage to the exterior, firefighters were able to confirm the fire had not breached the residence and successfully stopped the spread before it reached the main structure.

West Pulaski units arrived also to assist with suppression and overhaul operations.

Please Remember

Just because there is not an official burn ban in place does not mean it is safe to burn.

When you choose to burn, it’s not just your property that’s affected, it’s everyone around you. Any fire, big or small, can quickly get out of control and should never be left unattended.

Quick action and strong coordination between departments prevented what could have been a much larger loss.

At approximately 5:45 PM this evening, the Lake Maumelle Fire Department responded to a reported woods fire in the area of Beaver Creek Loop.

Crews found approximately a half-acre grass and woods fire. Thankfully, it was not threatening any structures and was extinguished without incident.

With the dry conditions and winds we’ve been experiencing, even a small fire can spread quickly. Please use caution outdoors and be mindful of anything that could create a spark.

If you see something concerning or notice a fire that seems unusual or simply doesn’t look right, don’t hesitate to call 911. We would much rather respond and not be needed than not be called at all.

Thanks to the quick action and watchful eyes of our neighbors, this fire was handled before it could grow into something much more serious. That’s what community looks like, neighbors looking out for neighbors.

Let’s continue working together to help keep Roland safe.

HIGH FIRE DANGER

Today’s weather conditions are extremely dangerous for any type of outdoor burning. With very high winds and dry ground conditions, even the smallest fire can spread faster than you expect.

Every preventable fire pulls firefighters and resources away from other emergencies where someone may truly need immediate help.

It’s also important to understand: if a fire escapes your control, you can be held both criminally and financially responsible under Arkansas law for damages and suppression costs.

Please help us protect our community:

❌ Do NOT burn today, not even small debris piles
❌ Do NOT burn trash
❌ Do NOT assume you can “keep it contained” in these conditions

We appreciate your cooperation and your commitment to keeping everyone safe.

Second Alarm Response – Multi-Agency Effort in Little Italy

Today, the Lake Maumelle Fire Department was dispatched on a second alarm to assist the West Pulaski Fire Department with a large woods fire in Little Italy, in the area of Hwy 300 Spur & Ross Hollow Road.

This was a significant incident, burning approximately 30 acres, and required a coordinated response from multiple agencies.

• Bigelow Fire Department
• Houston Fire Department
• Crystal Fire Department
• Arkansas Forestry Commission
• Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office
• Perry County Sherriff’s Office

The Forestry Commission brought in several dozers to begin cutting containment lines around the fire, which played a critical role in slowing and surrounding the blaze. One home was evacuated as a precaution.

Incidents like this highlight the importance of teamwork, communication, and strong partnerships between departments.

When the call goes out, agencies across multiple counties step up, and today was a perfect example of that collaboration in action.

We appreciate everyone’s hard work on scene and the support from our community!
