🚗Week two of the NC Governor's Highway Safety Program Memorial Day Click It or Ticket campaign took place from May 26-May 31. 🚙 In that time there were 31 traffic violations recorded by our officers, including two motorists driving with licenses revoked, four drug violations, and one wanted person apprehended.

🚲 Officers N. Lawson and G. Lerma gave out our first bike helmet safety citations of the summer yesterday to Trey and Tate! 🚲 All summer long, officers will be keeping an eye out for kids they can catch playing safely by wearing a helmet while riding a bike or trike. Each "citation" comes with a coupon for a free treat from McDonald's.

May statistics are in! 3,588 calls for service over the course of the month breaks down to just shy of five calls per hour (4.82 to be exact). There was a whopping 94% increase in accidents compared to May 2025. Be sure to follow all traffic laws and stay vigilant while driving to reduce your chance of being in a motor vehicle crash!

🚲 Do you know about our Bicycle Helmet Safety Citation program? 🚲 Each summer our officers keep an eye out for kids wearing a helmet while riding their bikes (or trikes) around town. If a child is "caught" practicing bike safety, they can receive a certificate that comes with a coupon for a free treat from McDonald's.

Week one of the NC Governor's Highway Safety Program Memorial Day Click It or Ticket campaign ran from May 18th-25th. In that time, 57 traffic violations were recorded in our jurisdiction including two driving with licenses revoked, one uninsured motorist, 13 speeders, and six drug violations. There were also two felony arrests made and one wanted person apprehended.

Week two of the campaign is in progress--be safe out there as you're out and about!
