There is no active fire emergency or burn restriction declaration in place in Rolette County at this time, but we still ask residents to use caution with any open burning.

𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗻, 𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲:

🔸Check with your local Fire Chief
🔸Call Rolette County Dispatch at 701-477-5623 before you begin
🔸Monitor the fire at all times
🔸Have water, extinguishers, shovels, or other resources ready
🔸Call Dispatch again when the burn is finished and fully out

If the fire gets out of control, call 911 immediately.

Campfires, recreational fires, and burn barrels do not need to be reported to Dispatch, but they are only allowed when the fire danger rating is LOW or MODERATE.

These steps help keep our volunteer fire departments informed and prevent unnecessary call-outs. Thank you for doing your part to help keep Rolette County safe.

Alex was recognized for staying calm under pressure and guiding a mother over the phone through the birth of her baby. This is the first time in over 20 years that this award has been given to someone in Rolette County.

We are incredibly proud of Alex and thankful for his service to our community. Congratulations on this well-deserved honor!

Some county gravel roads have plugged culverts, causing water to flow over portions of the roadway. Please use extra caution while driving, slow down, and watch for water crossing the road, especially in low-lying areas.

Great news for Rolette County! Our Sheriff’s Office just went live with MPDS, giving dispatchers the tools to provide lifesaving medical instructions over the phone while help is on the way! 🤝💪

Exciting News from North Dakota!

Rolette County Sheriff’s Office officially went live with Medical Priority Dispatch System (MPDS) this morning!

With MPDS now in place, Emergency Dispatchers are equipped to guide callers through structured, potentially lifesaving medical instructions before responders arrive on scene. From helping deliver babies to identifying strokes while responders are en route, Emergency Dispatchers can now provide clear, clinically backed guidance when callers need it.

Fun facts about Rolette County, North Dakota:

• The county sits along the U.S.–Canada border in northern North Dakota.
• It is home to the Turtle Mountain Indian Reservation and the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa.
• Rolette County includes the world-renowned International Peace Garden, a symbol of unity and cooperation between the United States and Canada.

The Rolette County Sheriff’s Office extends its deepest condolences to the members of the Rolette Volunteer Fire Department and to the family, friends, and fellow responders mourning the loss of Brady Knudson.

The passing of a firefighter is a loss felt throughout the entire public safety community. Those who serve in the fire service do so with courage, dedication, and a selfless commitment to protecting others. We recognize and honor Brady Knudson’s service to his community and the impact he had on those who had the privilege to serve alongside him.

During this difficult time, our thoughts are with his loved ones and with all members of the Rolette Volunteer Fire Department. We stand in support of our brothers and sisters in the fire service as they navigate this loss. If there is any way our office can support you, do not hesitate to reach out.
