UPD Officers received a call that an S&T student was at a local business and needed help with a flat tire. Sergeant Guth and Officer Carter made their way over and successfully worked with the student and changed the tire. They did this service despite the temperatures in Rolla today reaching 102 degrees.

We are happy to help and serve the Missouri S&T campus family with minor emergencies such as a flat tire. We view these as opportunities for a positive police and citizen engagement.

During opening week there are several fun events for the students to participate in. Last night in the Innovation Lab, there was a crime/mystery game put on by the Men's Campus Christian House. The University Police were invited to participate and jumped at the opportunity. Officers are pictured offering clues to the students. The University Police team appreciate the opportunity to serve this amazing campus community. Shout out to Officers Lana French, Grant Shade, and Sergeant Jeff Brooks.

Today was Convocation for our incoming freshman students. The University Police and University Parking Operations contributed to the event by managing traffic for the students crossing Tim Bradley Way and 10th Street, and by handing out water to the students on this warm day.

The freshman are moving in today. The parking lots are very busy and traffic is heavy in Rolla. Please be patient with our newest campus members as they learn campus and Rolla.

Shout out to I-Hop for the lemonade stands to help keep our new Miners and their families hydrated. We have a great campus community.

The University Police would like to thank the ownership of Alex's Pizza for the wonderful food delivery today. Its freshman move-in and every officer is working to help make the day as smooth as possible. This kind gesture by Alex's Pizza to help feed the team working today is very much appreciated. ‼️⚠️There is an Enhanced Risk (3 out of 5) of Severe Storms Wednesday for much of Missouri. Expect two rounds of showers and thunderstorms, with the first round in the morning.
⚠️ The second round will be in the afternoon into overnight, with the highest chances in northeast Missouri.
⚠️Damaging straight-line wind (up to 70 MPH) is the most likely hazard, along with a lower threat of large hail (up to golf ball size) and a strong tornado (EF-2+) mainly in the early stages of the event. Localized flash flooding is also possible.
⚠️At least some strong or severe storms are expected, but
how far south the strongest storms reach remains uncertain.
