Today at approximately 7:51am, we were dispatched to a vehicle accident involving a tree falling on an SUV on Fail Rd between State Rd 2 and US 20. The driver was pinned in and needed to be extricated. We called a heavy wrecker to the scene to assist with stabilizing the tree allowing us to work safely. Once the patient was extricated, we passed them along to EMS where the patient was airlifted to a hospital for further treatment. The month of April has been a busy month for our department! We would like to congratulate Dylan Coffman, Andrew Mrozinski, Josh Dockery, and Codee Bird on becoming our newest members. We got updated photos in our Class-A Dress attire taken by To-A-T Photography. A Kankakee Township local business that does amazing work! You can see for yourself the outcome plus some behind the scenes photos that were taken in our station. Would also like to congratulate Lieutenant Jared Koselke and family on his daughter turning Seven Months old in the month of April! Since we are Station 7 they saw it fighting to have a wonderful photo shoot to commemorate! We ended the month with car extrication training. Those of us on Kankakee Township Volunteer Fire Department are thankful for the opportunity to serve and protect our community and we look forward to continuing our duties. Also don’t forget our pancake breakfast is this upcoming Sunday May 3rd from 7 AM- 11AM. The flyer is included at the end of this post for anymore questions on the Event. On Wednesday, our members along with Springfield Township Volunteer Fire Department and Laporte County Hazmat went to Keystone Corporation in Rolling Prairie to refresh on our anhydrous ammonia incident response. Farmers will soon start needing it and will be out in our area. Thank you Keystone and Hazmat for the great refresher! 🚒🔥🚜

We spent Wednesday night at Springfield Township Volunteer Fire Departments Training Center where our firefighters encountered live fire. Not only did our guys get to put out fire, they also searched and found victims as well. Thank you Springfield for allowing us to utilize your training center to help us improve for our community 🔥🚒

As the year wraps up, our members participated in a little activity we call Extrication Jenga. We got to train on our tools, but also play a competitive game. Last night we had teams of two take turns removing blocks with tools while trying to keep the tower upright. Happy Holidays 🎄🚒🔥
