Tropical Storm Edouard – Local Update

Tropical Storm Edouard is expected to make landfall soon near the Texas–Louisiana border. Rain bands associated with the storm are anticipated to reach our area within the next couple of hours. While Roman Forest is just outside the Tropical Storm Warning, we remain under a Flood Warning for flash flooding. The current forecast track brings the center of Edouard toward us within the cone of uncertainty.

Preparedness Measures

The Roman Forest Police Department and City crews are fully prepared for the incoming tropical weather. Additional personnel have been scheduled as a precaution, and recent improvements to roadside ditches will help manage runoff. An additional outfall ditch on Roman Forest Blvd near Galaxy Blvd is also now in service.

County Emergency Operations

Montgomery County Emergency Management will activate the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) at Level 2 beginning at 1:00 p.m. today. The EOC will remain activated until threats associated with Tropical Storm Edouard have passed.

Rainfall

Heavy rainfall is possible, with 3–5 inches expected across the area. While the system will bring much‑needed precipitation, flash flooding remains a concern.

Wind

At this time, significant winds are not expected for Montgomery County.

Flood Watch

A Flood Watch is in effect from 1:00 a.m. Tuesday through 7:00 a.m. Wednesday.

Tropical Storm Edouard has officially developed in the Gulf, and we continue to monitor its progress closely.

RFPD is prepared for this tropical weather should any of it reach us.

Landfall remains expected tomorrow afternoon near the Texas–Louisiana border. As Edouard moves inland toward the northwest, the current forecast track places the center just east of Montgomery County, though our area remains within the cone of uncertainty.

🔥 BURN BAN — EFFECTIVE 8:00 A.M. Friday August 21, 2026

Due to dry conditions and the increased risk of grass and wildfires, the City of Roman Forest is issuing a BURN BAN.

🚫 All outdoor burning is prohibited during the burn ban, including:
Burning leaves, brush, and yard waste
Outdoor trash burning
Burn piles
Recreational fires and bonfires
Any other open burning that could create a fire hazard

Residents are urged to use extreme caution with any activity that could produce a spark or flame, including welding, cutting, outdoor equipment, and the use of combustible materials.

🔥 Please help protect our homes, families, and community by following the burn ban.
The City will provide an announcement when the burn ban has been lifted.

📚 New Little Free Library at the City Park! 📚

The City of Roman Forest, in partnership with the Rotary Club of East Montgomery County and a Scout from Troop 1013 working toward his Eagle Scout rank, has installed a Little Free Library at our City Park.

We encourage our youth and residents to visit the library, choose a book to read, and return it or replace it with another book when they have finished reading.

The city of Roman Forest will be closed on Thursday, July 2, 2026, to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States, and will resume regular operations on Monday, July 6, 2026. Have a safe 4th of July weekend.
