Our Story

Upon being elected in November of 2004, Sheriff Tim Burkhalter had a vision for our youth in Floyd County. He promised the community that he would provide programs for our children and in keeping his promise he began the C.H.A.M.P.S. Program, a division of the Georgia Sheriff's Association. However, he soon realized that there were other pressing needs in our community and also wishing to be a good steward of donor funds, choose in 2019 to develop his own program, which he has named "Turning Point." As with many of the Programs the Floyd County Sheriff's Office offers, "Turning Point" operates on donations provided through sponsors and individuals within our community. Every penny counts towards the goal of shaping our children for their future. If you would like to make a donation and become part of this great program please contact us at 706-291-4111 Ext. 8847 or Ext. 8871.
