☕🍩 A big thank you to Family Dollar's corporate team and the staff at the North Broad Street store for inviting us to coffee this morning!

We enjoyed great conversation, Sweet Bar donuts, Dunkin' coffee, and the opportunity to connect with our community partners. We were also impressed by how clean, organized, and welcoming this store is.

Thank you for your support of our officers and our community. We appreciate you! 💙🚔

🚧 REFRESHER FRIDAY: MERGING 🚗

The lane is ending.
Not your patience. 😅

When a lane ends:
✔ Use BOTH lanes
✔ Take turns merging.
✔ Merge before the lane actually ends

Think of it like a zipper:
One car goes. Then another.
Zip, zip, zip!

🚫 Blocking cars from merging early can actually make traffic worse.

💡 Stay calm. Take turns. Keep traffic moving.

BEHIND THE BADGE: Officer Willard Rains

Sometimes, the smallest moments leave the biggest impact.

Recently, a young driver contacted the Rome Police Department after what began as a routine traffic stop for a headlight issue unexpectedly turned into a stressful situation involving registration and insurance concerns.

The driver shared that Officer Willard Rains handled the situation with patience, professionalism, and compassion — taking the time to calmly explain the process, answer questions, and most importantly, treating them with dignity during an overwhelming moment.

What stood out most was Officer Rains’ willingness to make sure the driver got home safely when no one else was available to help.

Law enforcement is about more than enforcement alone. It’s also about service, empathy, and treating people with humanity during difficult moments.

Thank you, Officer Rains, for representing the Rome Police Department with professionalism, kindness, and care for our community.
