We patrol approximately 56 square miles, which makes up the Rome Township in northern Adams County Wisconsin. This week, the Town of Rome Police Department proudly recognizes National Police Week — a time to honor the men and women in law enforcement who serve and protect our communities every day.
We especially remember the officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, and we extend our gratitude to those who continue to wear the badge with courage, professionalism, and dedication.

We have been notified of residents receiving the below correspondence by text message. While the document looks official and looks like it’s from Milwaukee County Circuit Court, it is not. If you receive this text message, report it as spam and do not access the QR code.

We have already reported this scam to the FTC.

REMINDER: Today is drug take back day. We will be hosting this event from 10AM-2PM at the Rome Police Department.

The Rome Police Department is hosting a Drug Take Back Event at the Rome Police Department; 1156 Alpine Drive Nekoosa, WI 54457 on Saturday, April 25, 2026 from 10:00 AM till 2:00 PM.

Bring: Prescription (controlled and non-controlled) and over-the-counter medications, ointments, patches, non-aerosol sprays, inhalers, creams, vials and pet medications.

Do Not Bring: Illegal drugs, needles/sharps, aerosol cans, bio-hazardous materials (anything containing a bodily fluid or blood), mercury thermometers, personal care products (shampoo, soaps, lotions, sunscreens, etc...), household hazardous waste (paint, pesticides, oil, gas).

• Participants may dispose of solid, non-liquid medication(s) by removing the medication from its container and disposing of it directly into a disposal box or into a clear sealable plastic bag. Plastic pill containers should not be collected. Blister packages are acceptable without the medications being removed.
• Liquids will be accepted during this initiative. However, the liquids, creams and sprays must be in their original packaging and evenly distributed within the boxes of collected solid prescription medications. Liquids without the original packaging will not be accepted.
• Illicit substances such as ma*****na or methamphetamine are not a part of this initiative and should not be placed in collection containers.

Prescription Medications and above listed type of items can be brought in throughout the year and and placed in the permanent Drop Off Box Monday through Friday 8 AM to 4 PM or by appointment with the on-duty officer.

ATV/UTV Safety Course

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting a Wisconsin DNR ATV/UTV Safety Course. Registration is currently open, pre-registration is required at https://gowild.wi.gov/customer. Once registered you can pick up your course materials at the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, court security office. The classroom portion will be on April 25, 2026 from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM at the Adams County Community Center. Anyone who is 12 years of age or older and who was born on or after January 1, 1988, must have completed a safety certification course to ride on public riding areas. For questions contact Recreational Deputy McFarland or Sheriff Brent York at the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.

HIT AND RUN

The Rome Police Department is attempting to locate a vehicle that struck a mailbox at 207 STH 13 in the Town of Rome. The vehicle in question is a Dodge Ram pickup truck, possibly a 2009-2012. This was reported to have occurred between 6pm last night (4/3) and 7am this morning (4/4). If this is your bumper, your paint chips or miscellaneous truck parts, or you have seen a vehicle driving around with extensive front end damage that could possibly be involved, please contact the Rome Police Department.

The Town of Rome Transfer Site will be closed on Sunday, March 15, 2026 due to the upcoming forecasted snowfall.

Please note that the Transfer Site will be open on Saturday, March 14, 2026 during regular business hours, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

SCAM ALERT!!

Town of Rome business owners and residents. We have recently been notified of a scam that is being attempted on local business owners of the Town of Rome.

This scam consists of an email you may receive claiming to be from the Town of Rome Planning Commission. It advises of an application approval fee and requests a wire transfer in order to pay that fee.

Please do not respond to this email if received. Any payment needing to be made to the town would be done in person or through our payment link on the official Town of Rome website. Romewi.gov

If you ever feel you need to confirm if something is a scam contact the Town of Rome Police Department and an officer would be happy to assist you!
