The Rome Public Defender's Office celebrates its 20th anniversary this January. Over the past two decades, we have remained steadfast in our commitment to zealously and compassionately advocating for our clients.

On Tuesday, the Floyd County Board of Commissioners recognized our office for this major milestone. We appreciate Floyd County's special recognition and are thankful for their unwavering support.

The GPDC Summer Conference took place this week at the University of Georgia School of Law in Athens, Georgia. Our statewide Georgia Public Defender Council family is an amazing resource for knowledge, support, and energy!

Some special visitors came by the Rome Judicial Circuit Public Defender’s Office recently, as part of the Public Animal Welfare Services (P.A.W.S.) “Rent-A-Kitten" program.

Adopting a cat is like adopting a walking, meowing, sassy, stress reliever. Check out these fun (and relaxing) facts:

😺 A cat purrs within a range of 20-140 Hz which is known to be medically therapeutic for illnesses in humans.
😺Their calming ways can help reduce our risk of cardiovascular disease by up to 30%.
😺 Cats help our moods by increasing serotonin and decreasing cortisol.

Our Public Defenders had a purrrfect afternoon with some adoptable kittens. One kitten even found their FUR-ever home!
