We are currently in an Extreme Heat Warning from 11am today, July 1, 2026 - Friday, July 3, 2026 at 8pm! 💥 Here are some tips to beat the heat!
☀️ Stay in cool, air conditioned areas!
☀️ Don’t stay in the sun for extended periods of time!
💦 Drink plenty of hydrating liquids! Especially water!
👙 Utilize your pool, or the local public pool! Currently, the Bradford County YMCA in Towanda, PA has several free swim days this week!
📖 If you’re stopping by the Little Free Library to stock up on books, come earlier in the morning or in the evening when it’s cooler! (Also, if you’re donating books, please do NOT over stuff the library!)
🐶 Do NOT leave pets in cars, not even for a minute! Hot vehicles can be deadly in this heat!
🐶 Make sure your pets have a cool place to be! If they are outside, make sure they have access to lots of shade & water!
🐶 Make sure your pets have access to lots of fresh, cool water!
🐶 If you must take your pet for a walk, walk them earlier in the morning or later in the evening when it’s cooler! Make potty breaks short! Also, if you can’t touch the pavement with your hand, they can’t walk on it with their paws!
👫 Check on your neighbors! Especially the elderly! Make sure they can keep cool & have ways to keep hydrated!
🥵 If you, someone you know, or an animal, experiences heat exhaustion or heat stroke please seek the appropriate, professional, medical, attention!
