PeachFest 2026 event Schedule:

9/4 - Fireworks show at Crystal Diamonds Park in Bruce Twp at dark.

9/5 - KidsFest at Bruce Twp Park from 9:30am until 1:30pm.

9/6 - Main Street will be closed from 5:15pm until approximately 8pm for the Bed Race and then the Car Parade. To get north or south around the village, use M-53 on the east side of town or Sisson (which turns into Chandler) on the west side of down.

9/7 - Main Street will be closed from 9:30am until approximately 11am for the Children's Parade. The streets will re-open temporarily but will be closed again at 1pm until approximately 3pm for the Hometown Parade. Main, Gates and Old VanDyke from Minot to 33 Mile will be closed at 10:30am for parade staging and will re-open after the Hometown Parade at approximately 3pm. Use the above routes around.

That will conclude Peachfest for another year.

Many of you may have noted the news reports this week about the multiple Michigan communities dealing with the electric motorcycle issues. The Village of Romeo is no exception, unfortunately.

The village and the police department have been dealing with this issue all Summer. The village is currently drafting a local ordinance to address the matter; however, the public should be aware that state law has always identified an e-motorcycle as either a motor vehicle or moped, depending on the speed and power output of the device. This is to say that one must have a driver's license or moped license to drive these devices on the roadway. This is not to mention the dangers involved with kids zipping around on these motorcycles, many below the eye level of a car or truck, and others without helmets.

Please parents, your kids are not allowed to be on the road with an e-motorcycle. E-bicycles are a different classification altogether and are governed by traditional bike laws. Stay tuned for the local ordinance. Thanks everyone.

The Romeo Police Department always participates in prescription drug take back 24/7/365 in our lobby. However, on Drug Take Back Day, Saturday, October 24th from 10am until 2pm, we will be partnering with Kroger Pharmacy. There will be a collection location in the Romeo Police Department parking lot. Take advantage of this free event, and please, don't put your unused prescriptions in the Michigan water or solid waste systems. Put this on your calendar and we hope to see everyone there!

Just a friendly reminder that Peach Fest begins next week. The downtown roads will be closed on Sunday, 9/6 from 5:30pm until 8:pm for the bed races and the car parade. The roads will be closed again on Monday, 9/7 from 10am until 2:30pm for the Children's parade and the Hometown parade. Routes will take you around the downtown district.
