If you’ve ridden with us… if you’ve watched eagles move through the canyon… if you’ve shared a meal, a moment, or a memory here—then you already know.

Here are 10 reasons we humbly ask for your vote:

1. Because The Trough is something you don’t just see—you feel it
2. Because bald eagles here aren’t a moment—they’re part of the landscape
3. Because it’s not manufactured—it’s authentic, real, and unchanged
4. Because it’s more than a train ride—it’s a heritage train ride connecting you to the past

In this small slice of Almost Heaven, bald eagles nest, raise their young, and live wild and free, season after season—deep in the Appalachian forest along our route.

It’s all part of the experience aboard Potomac Eagle Scenic Railroad, where dining, history, and living wilderness come together.

The 2-week-old bald eaglet who swallowed a fishing hook more than a week ago and underwent surgery is back in the nest with its family.

On Tuesday, the eaglet, which doubled its weight in 10 days after surgery and rehab in West Virginia, was reunited with its family in their nest below the U.S. Steel Irvin Plant in West Mifflin, along the Monongahela River.

“Good luck to one lucky little eagle,” said Dr. Jesse Fallon, director of veterinary medicine for the Avian Conservation Center of Appalachia in Morgantown, W. Va .

Tamarack Wildlife Center in Crawford County, the educational partner for the U.S. Steel and Glen Hazel bald eagle webcams, determined that the young eaglet could be saved.
