🔥 Fire Danger is HIGH 🔥

While we are not currently under a burn ban, conditions across Upper Kittitas County are becoming increasingly dry. Grasses and light fuels can ignite easily and fires can spread quickly, especially during windy conditions.

As you enjoy the outdoors, please do your part to prevent wildfires:

✅ Fully extinguish fires before leaving them unattended
✅ Never park vehicles on dry grass
✅ Secure trailer chains to prevent sparks
✅ Use caution with equipment that can create heat or sparks
✅ Properly dispose of ci******es and smoking materials
✅ Keep a shovel and water source nearby when conducting any legal burning

Remember, it only takes one spark to start a wildfire.

KCFD7 crews are ready to respond, but prevention is our best tool. Let’s all do our part to keep our community, forests, and neighbors safe this summer.

🚒 Stay informed, stay prepared, and help Prevent Wildfires.

Congratulations to our three newest EMTs.

LT. Beau Foster has served as a volunteer for several years and joined the full‑time ranks at KCFPD6 at the start of the year. This week, he completed his EMT coursework and successfully passed the NREMT.

Firefighters Derek Howison and Thomas Peirce have each volunteered with District 6 for the past two years. Both wrapped up their coursework and passed the NREMT this week as well.

We are incredibly proud of all three and excited to welcome our newest EMTs into the D6 ranks as they continue serving our community and our mutual‑aid partners.

This Memorial Day, Kittitas County Fire District 6 pauses to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Their sacrifice is the reason we are able to gather with family, enjoy our communities, and live with the freedoms we often take for granted. Behind every name is a story, a family, and a legacy of courage that should never be forgotten.

As we enjoy this weekend in the mountains, around campfires, at the lake, or with loved ones, we ask everyone to take a moment to remember what this day truly means.

To the fallen heroes and the families who carry their memory forward: thank you. Your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

From all of us at Kittitas County Fire District 6, we remember, we honor, and we are grateful.

Ronald is PACKED!

Memorial Day weekend changes the pace in Kittitas County.

More traffic over the pass. More people headed to campgrounds, trailheads, lakes, and rivers. More boats on the water. More late-night driving after long days with friends and family.

The Sheriff’s Office will have extra patrols out through the weekend in areas where we know holiday traffic and recreation activity increase. Marine patrols will be on heavily traveled waterways watching for safe boating and enforcing boating under the influence laws. Deputies will also be working focused DUI patrols to help keep impaired drivers off the road.

This isn’t about spoiling anyone’s weekend. It’s about making sure everyone gets home from it.

Please slow down, buckle up, boat safely, and make a sober plan before you need one.

Have a safe Memorial Day weekend, Kittitas County.

Nothing says “family” like a firehouse BBQ — good laughs, great company, and Owen’s brats disappearing faster than a false alarm 🍔🔥🌭

Grateful for the crew that works hard, watches out for each other, and somehow still debates who burned the onions. Wishing everyone a safe, fun weekend from all of us at FD6. Stay safe out there… and remember: the only thing that should be lit this weekend is the grill. 🚒🇺🇸
