Dozens of employees assembled, filled, and decorated 250 “birthday in a box” kits that will benefit children we serve through our Family and Children Services Division.

Never leave a child or pet alone in a hot car. Not even for “just a minute” and not even with the windows cracked open. The temperature inside the car can rise to deadly levels in minutes! Always, always take the child or pet with you!

For a list of Cooling Centers in Suffolk which may be activated as cooling facilities during an excessive heat event as determined by the national weather service (and the hours they are open), go to suffolkcountyny.gov and search “Cooling Centers”. Always call ahead to confirm they are open.

May is celebrated as Perinatal Mood & Anxiety Disorders Awareness Month in Suffolk County, New York.

Suffolk County Executive Edward P. Romaine and the Suffolk County Executive's Office of Women's Services, the Postpartum Resource Center of New York and Suffolk County Department of Health, Perinatal Health Services Program will be hosting the 16th annual PMAD Conference, "Community Support for New & Expanding Families" on Wednesday, May 6th at the H. Lee Dennison Building in Hauppauge.
