Congratulations to Raimonde “the turtle” LaBarbera for completing his probationary period. Ray’s progress over his probationary period has improved exponentially and he is viewed as vital member of station 2. As his nickname hints, his speed is something that will always be worked on.

Rescue 6 responded to a call for ducklings stuck in a storm drain. Crews from Rescue 6 and Engine 2 were able to get an extension ladder into the drain. FF Ryan DiPrima (the skinniest person on scene) went down the ladder and collected the ducklings. The ducklings were then released to their mother who was patiently waiting.

This evening Station 2 & HQ staffed Truck 3 for a Mutual Aid to Nesconset FD. Crews had a smoke condition in the basement. Truck 3 took the front of the building. After further investigation crews found a small electrical fire and charring under the floor. All units operated under the command of 4-4-30

As members of Station 2 were leaving from a recruitment day at Connetquot High School we were activated for a mutual aid to Ronkonkoma FD for a kitchen fire. Station 2 members staffed Truck 3 and responded. Crews assisted with searches of the basement. The fire was quickly extinguished by first due units.
