Join on Monday, June 29th at 12:30 PM for Books & Ball, a special free event co-hosted with the for children ages 4 and up! Kids will enjoy 30 minutes of sports-themed story time on the basketball court with a visiting librarian, followed by a fun 30-minute basketball scrimmage led by Coach Felix Riascos. The Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Show will not be visible from Roosevelt Island this year and is not a viewing location. As a result, RIOC will not be running a ticket lottery or sending out any communications regarding a ticketed 4th of July event to the community.

For those looking to watch the show, official viewing points will be along the lower Hudson River and the Lower East River near the Brooklyn Bridge and the Seaport District.

While we still expect higher than average traffic to the island on July 4th, we do not anticipate the numbers to reach what we typically see when the fireworks celebration is hosted closer to the island.

Please be advised that in observance of Juneteenth, Sportspark will be closed on Friday, June 19th.

West Road curb repair and repaving is now complete! 🚌 The project involved heavy milling and removal of old z-bricks that had been previously paved over with asphalt, which created persistent pothole issues. A safer curb was also installed to improve pedestrian safety in the area. Thanks to RIOC Maintenace for spearheading this work!
