Thank you for joining RIOC, , and in celebrating the 50th Tramiversary today!

Fifty years ago, two red cabins lifted off over the East River for the first time. Today, we celebrated them with our warm community (and cake and giveaways, too). Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Tramway Plaza.

Thanks as well to the representatives from the offices of Congressman , Assemblymember , and Governor . We were honored you joined us today.

For more than a decade, two original Roosevelt Island Tram cabins have sat beneath the Motorgate Helix, forgotten and falling apart.

As we mark fifty years, we want to change that โ€” and we want your ideas. Public art? A community space? Something nobody's thought of yet? Residents, artists, historians, anyone who loves the Island: tell us what these cabins should become.
