EAST ELEMENTARY RULES AND PROCEDURES
MONDAY-THURSDAY 8:05AM-3:05PM
FRIDAYS 8:05AM-1:15PM
DOORS
· DOORS Will BE OPEN FROM 7:35-8:05 AM, then will remain locked until 3:05 PM. In the mornings, students will be asked to go down to the commons to watch a movie before school starts. If the weather permits, the students can go outside. If students need to eat breakfast, we offer breakfast from 7:35 am- 8:05 am. The first bell rings at
8:00 am to excuse students to their classes, this is when teachers’ doors open.
CHECKOUT PROCEDURES
ANYONE CHECKING OUT A STUDENT, WILL BE REQUIRED TO HAVE THEIR ID PRESENT.
· Students will only be released to LEGAL GUARDIANS OR APPROVED EMERGENCY CONTACTS IN POWERSCHOOL. If the person checking out your student is NOT ON THE LIST, we will call and check with the legal guardians before we let your student go.
· EARLY CHECKOUT- We will call your student(s) to the office once you have arrived and signed them out. Please do not call ahead to have your child pulled early. Please plan ahead as it may take a few minutes for your child to make it up to the office. If you are planning on picking up your student(s) early, please do so no later than 2:45 pm.
· After signing for your student(s) we are asking that you stay up by the office, please don’t go and get them. This is for your student’s safety and others that we have you stay by the office and wait for them there.
PARENT/TEACHER MEETINGS
· Teachers will not be available from 7:30 am-3:05 pm to meet with parents. This is their teaching time, and will not be able to leave their classes. If you need to meet with a teacher, please set up a meeting with them. We will happily help you schedule it, if needed. Teachers are also not always available to answer their phones. If you call and want to speak with them during these hours, once again they will not be available. If its urgent we as an office staff will get the message to them. PARENTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO GO TO ANY CLASSROOMS DURNING SCHOOL HOURS. THIS IS FOR YOUR STUDENT(S) AND OTHER STUDENTS’ SAFETY. WE ASK ALL PARENTS TO STAY UP BY THE FRONT OFFICE.
· If you are helping in a classroom, YOU MUST CHECK IN THE FRONT OFFICE AND RECEIVE A VISITORS PASS.
EXCUSED ABSENCES
· If your student(s) is absent, please call and excuse them that day. We cannot change it after 48 hours. The only exception is a Medical Doctors Note.
MESSAGES
· We are happy to give out messages to students. If you need to leave a message with your student(s) please call before 2:50 pm. We will send out messages at 2:50 every day. If you wait until the end of the day, we can’t always guarantee your student(s) will hear their message. The end of the day usually gets a little hectic.
DROP OFF/PICK-UP LINES
· When you are in the pickup lines, please pull as far forward as you can and make sure you are in the yellow section before you let your students in your vehicle. The teachers are out there directing traffic, please follow their instructions. They are there to keep your students safe. Do not stop and get out in the drop off/pick-up lines. There are parking lots for you to park and get out with our students if you need to get out and come inside the building.
PLEASE REMIND YOUR STUDENT(S) NO TOYS, STUFFIES, SQUISHIES, NEEDOHS, CLICKERS, OR FIDGETS OF ANY KIND ARE ALLOWED AT SCHOOL. TEACHERS AND STAFF WILL CONFISCATE THEM AND A PARENT WILL HAVE TO COME AND GET THEM FROM THE OFFICE.
Your student’s safety is of the utmost importance to us. These rules and procedures will help us to keep your students safe. We recognize that these rules will put more responsibility on you as parents, we are grateful for your help to support us in our efforts to keep all of our students safe.
