NEOMED PD spent some time with the Fiji fraternity at the University of Akron to go over some impaired driving information. What is the true cost of an OVI? Why is even low level alcohol consumption dangerous for driving? What are the effects of ma*****na use and driving? This was super well received and will be presented at NEOMED on April 9! Email [email protected] to register. Impairment goggles will also be used for brave participants wanting to try (example video in the comments)!

4:36 AM EDT 3/26/26: Up to an enhanced risk (level 3 of 5) of severe t-storms exists today. A disturbance may trigger isolated severe storms in NE OH and NW PA this afternoon, before a strong cold front likely triggers scattered severe storms late this afternoon into the evening in northern OH and NW PA.

Southwest winds will rapidly increase to 25-35 mph by late this morning, with gusts up to 60 mph through the afternoon as winds gradually turn West. Damage to trees and power-lines and power outages are likely. Travel will be difficult for high profile vehicles.

03/10/2026

⚠️⛈️ Thunderstorms will move east into the area overnight, with some becoming strong or severe, particularly across Northwest Ohio. All hazards are possible, though damaging winds, followed by a few tornadoes, and heavy rain, appear the most likely.

For your awareness: heavy law enforcement presence at Rootstown Schools planned for a non-emergency event on 2/26.

PSA - On February 26th, Rootstown High School will host a "Courtroom in the Classroom" event, which will have a heavy presence of law enforcement in attendance. We don't want anyone to panic should you pass by the school and see law enforcement in the parking lot and in the school.... it's ok! This event is part of the 11th District Court of Appeals program that give students a firsthand experience of the judicial process. **(the defendant in this case will not be in attendance)**
