For the fourteenth year, students in Mrs. Toni Mervine’s ELA class have been winners in the Rubber Band Contest for Young Inventors sponsored by The University of Akron’s School of Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering. Along with the submission, each student submits an essay explaining the creation and how people will benefit from it.

This year, 6th grader Clara Litherland is Runner Up for the Arts and Leisure Category and has been awarded $100 for her submission. She created “Our Internet Trap”.

Lyla Kelsey is a finalist for the Arts and Leisure Category and has been awarded $50. She created “This is me, Inside and Out”.

Congratulations to our great inventors and writers! We are so very proud of our Rovers.

Today our 6th grade students participated in a dogfish shark dissection. Students explored shark anatomy firsthand while practicing observation skills, teamwork, and lab safety. It was a great hands-on learning experience and the students did an awesome job!

This year sixth grader Cade Bittecuffer is Runner Up for the Science and Engineering category and has been awarded $100. He created The Freezer Safe Label.

Preston Glenny created The Trump Tracker (for Euchre) and Jackson Moss created The Flinger. These sixth graders are both finalists and were awarded $50 each.

Congratulations to our great inventors and writers! We are so very proud of our Rovers!

Community Resource Fair
📅 Date: Friday, May 31st
🕚 Time: 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM
📍 Location: Ravenna Elks Lodge, 776 N. Freedom St., Ravenna, OH

There will be over 30 local agencies on site, offering information and resources to the community. In addition to these helpful services, there will be:
* Food trucks
* Face painting
* Raffles & giveaways
And more fun activities to come!
