Roscoe Central School, home of the Blue Devils, is a small rural PreK-12 central school with approximately 220 students located in western Sullivan County, New York. Roscoe is located at the gateway to New York’s 300,000-acre Catskill Park and is surrounded by 20,000 acres of State Forest Preserve. Our community, known as "Trout Town USA", has been recognized in the nationally distributed Sports A
field Magazine as one of the top 50 outdoor communities in the nation, and has been ranked number one in the State of New York! Most recently, Roscoe won the World Fishing Network nationally publicized, “Ultimate Fishing Town, USA” online contest. (http://www.wfnfishingtown.com/2011-winning-town.php) Obviously, we are proud of our outdoor heritage, and as a result, our student body is extremely active in all co-curricular and athletic activities. Its unique size offers many opportunities for students to learn in an environment that addresses individual learning styles and challenges students to achieve to their highest potential. Students are able to take advantage of their community by learning about lifelong activities such as hiking, bicycling, fishing, golf and many other outdoor activities. Additionally, students have opportunities to participate in interscholastic sports, such as football, soccer, basketball, baseball, softball, track and golf, in addition to participating in musical activities of band, chorus, and plays, along with the visual arts and other co-curricular club programs. Citizenship plays an important part in our community. Service in a small community is essential for survival. Our educational program emphasizes the necessity for participation in the activities and traditions of our community and its role in the greater community of state and nation. COMMENTING GUIDELINES
