At 2:11 p.m. this afternoon, Brush 32, Brush 33, Tender 32, and Command 30 responded to a reported grass fire in the 15300 block of SW 200th Street.

Upon arrival, firefighters found approximately ½ acre of grass and brush on fire. Crews quickly brought the fire under control and extinguished it without incident.

🔥 Please use extra caution with the current dry conditions. Dry grass and vegetation, combined with southerly winds, can allow even a small fire to start easily and spread very quickly.

Residents are reminded to use caution with any outdoor activity that could produce a flame or spark. Avoid unnecessary outdoor burning, properly dispose of smoking materials, and be especially careful with equipment, vehicles, or machinery operating around dry vegetation.

A little extra caution can prevent a small spark from becoming a much larger fire.

🏈 Rose Bowl Saturday! 🏈

Butler County Fire District #3 personnel, along with Butler County EMS, are providing medical standby throughout the day today for the Rose Hill Junior Football Rose Bowl.

We’re glad to be out supporting our community and helping keep all of the players, coaches, families, and fans safe while they enjoy a full day of football.

🚒 Fire Hydrant Testing This Morning

Just a heads-up so nobody is wondering why the Fire Department is out flowing water from fire hydrants this morning.

Butler County Fire District #3 personnel are conducting our annual fire hydrant testing and flushing. This is a required yearly process that helps ensure hydrants are operating properly and that adequate water flow is available when we need it during a fire.

So, if you see firefighters opening hydrants and a lot of water running down the street, there’s no emergency — it’s just us doing our annual testing.

You may also notice some temporary discoloration of your tap water due to sediment being stirred up in the water mains. If that happens, simply let your cold water run for a few minutes until it clears.

If you see fire hydrants flowing in this area, they are open to relieve pressure on the water system after isolation valves have been closed.

We are monitoring the situation and have contingency plans in place in the event of a structure fire in the affected area.

The day we have long awaited has finally arrived, and we invite you to join us for this significant occasion. The Rose Hill 9/11 Memorial Committee has dedicated a tremendous amount of effort to this project, and we are incredibly proud to share the result with our community. This unique memorial in Rose Hill, Kansas, serves as a place of reflection and gratitude for the victims, first responders, military personnel, and heroes of September 11, 2001.

This evening, the Tender 32 crew and Command 30 assisted Andover Fire-Rescue with a barn fire in the area of SW 80th St. between Indianola Rd. and Tawakoni Rd.

This morning the Engine 31 crew cooled down the kiddos at Kids Club. They enjoyed the cool water on a warm summer day!
