We are less then one week away from the Roseau County Fair and Roseau County Fair Parade! With that being said we would like to provide some helpful maps for people when trying to get around town during the parade.

The Minnesota State Patrol will be on hand to help us get vehicles periodically through the parade on Hwy 11 but if your not looking to wait, the easiest way to get to the east or west end of town will be to take Hwy 89 to 6th St SW and then 2nd Ave SE. All other routes east and westbound will be blocked off for the safety of all parade goers.

If you are looking to head east or west out of town, I would suggest you use the DOT Detour map due to the road construction on Hwy 11, east of Roseau.

Also as a reminder, the Roseau Police Department will begin moving vehicles off of Main Ave from 3rd St SW. to to 5th St NW on Tuesday, July 21st at 3:30pm for the parade. Main Ave will be blocked off at that time and only east and westbound traffic will be able to go through the area. Once the parade starts, the barricades will be moved as to stop east and westbound traffic for the entire duration of the event.

With the implementation of the new Golf Cart Ordinance, we have been getting a lot of questions about E-Bikes and E-Scooters. The State of Minnesota already has regulations set forth regarding these types of transportation, which was not the case when it came to golf carts. The states stance when it came to golf carts was, there could be no golf carts allowed to legally be on city streets without cities creating an ordinance to allow it.

Last year we started working with LifeCare Medical Center, the Roseau County Sheriff's Office, and the Warroad Police Department in an effort to educate the public on the state regulations when it came to E-Bikes and E-Scooters. We cannot do this alone. We need parents help in knowing and implementing the rules as well. Everyone under the age of 18, when they receive one of this modes of transportation should also be provided with a helmet. The speed that these things reach can be very dangerous for the rider and we want to make sure they have all the protection needed.

People also need to know that when you are on one of these things, you need to follow every rule of the road that drivers of vehicles have to follow. That means stopping at intersections and being cautious of pedestrians.

Golf Cart Ordinance

On Monday the city voted to implement a new Golf Cart Ordinance for the City of Roseau. This ordinance can be found, in full, on the city website.

Golf Cart Permit Applications can be found at the Roseau Police Department as well as on the city website. All golf carts in order to be permitted by the city, must have insurance. These permits are only necessary if your golf cart is used on city streets and alleyways. The cost of the permit will be $5.00.

The golf cart permits will be good for 3 years. The city understands that the season is midway through, so the remainder of this year will be covered by the permits purchased, with the 3 year permit beginning in 2027.

Golf carts have become more prevalent on city streets and we are hopeful that this new ordinance helps us in keeping all the streets safe for everyone.
