Unfortunately, there has been 3 more hot car deaths since I last updated.

3) A child was found dead inside a locked car in Los Angeles' Valley Village neighborhood. Upon arrival, the child, believed to be a 4-year-old girl, was found inside the vehicle.
What we don't know:
It's unclear if a suspect has been identified.
It's also unknown how long she was inside the car.

4) A Tuscaloosa County father is facing a manslaughter charge after investigators say his 1-year-old child was found dead inside a vehicle Wednesday evening.
The infant's grandma called emergency responders after the baby was found dead in a car, still strapped into their car seat. It was unfortunately too late to save the child, who authorities said had become "highly discolored, purple, and blistered" from being left in the car.
The father admitted to leaving the home at one point to buy more alcohol. Chewning told investigators he believed the child had been sleeping in a crib and said the infant was accidentally left inside the vehicle.

5) A mother in northern Virginia is facing charges following the death of her newborn baby, who was allegedly left inside a hot vehicle while she was at work on Wednesday.
According to the Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office, a 42-year-old mother of Stafford County, faces charges of child endangerment and child abuse in the death of her 2-month-old child.
Based on the preliminary investigation, the infant had allegedly been left in a car seat inside a vehicle for an extended period of time while the mother was at work, investigators said.

Recently, members of Roseboro Fire Department had the opportunity to visit Charles E. Perry Telemon Head Start for a Touch-A-Truck and Fire Prevention event! πŸš’πŸ”₯

The kids enjoyed climbing inside the fire truck, learning what firefighters wear to stay safe, and hearing important fire safety tips. We also talked about the importance of smoke detectors and what to do in case of a fire.

We always enjoy spending time with our community and helping teach fire safety to our youngest residents!

Sadly, there have been 2 devastating losses this week alone, and 4 so far this year. πŸ’”

As we head into the hottest months of the year, remember to look out for our littlest passengers:

1️⃣ Always check the back seat.
2️⃣ Lock your vehicle doors.
3️⃣ If you see a child alone in a hot car, call 911 immediately.

πŸ”₯πŸ” Happy National BBQ Day from the members of the Roseboro Fire Department! πŸ—πŸŒ

As everyone fires up the grill today, we want to remind everyone to keep safety first while enjoying time with family and friends. A few simple precautions can help prevent a cookout from turning into an emergency:

πŸ”₯ Keep grills at least 10 feet away from homes, decks, and anything flammable
πŸ”₯ Never leave a grill unattended while cooking
πŸ”₯ Keep children and pets away from hot grills
πŸ”₯ Clean grease and fat buildup from grills regularly
πŸ”₯ Always check propane connections for leaks before use
πŸ”₯ Keep a fire extinguisher or water hose nearby just in case

Whether you’re cooking burgers, chicken, or barbecue, we hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable National BBQ Day! πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ”₯
