My thoughts and prayers are with everyone across the Rosebud Reservation who has been impacted by tonight’s severe storms. I am aware of the widespread damage being reported throughout our communities, including damage to homes and property.

In response, I am activating the Rosebud Sioux Tribe Emergency Preparedness Program (EPP) to begin identifying and documenting households that have sustained storm-related damage.

If your home has been damaged during tonight’s storms, please contact Robert Oliver EPP at 605-515-1331 to have your name and information added to the storm damage list. Please know that we are working to assess the needs throughout our communities and determine how we can best assist those who have been affected.

Most importantly, please continue to put the safety of yourself and your family first. Check on your relatives, neighbors, elders, and anyone who may need additional assistance tonight.

Please stay safe, stay alert, and continue to watch for changing weather conditions.

BOW ECHO DEVELOPMENT EXPECTED TODAY! Watching southern into central today where a compact shortwave is expected to kick off the development of a small - but potentially intense cluster of damaging wind producing storms!

This will likely evolve into a bow echo that moves southeast producing 70-75MPH winds. Although SPC currently has no tornado area outlined, I’ve often seen these systems manage to produce an embedded circulation or two as well!

🚨 Smoke Advisory 🚨

Residents may notice increased smoke in the air today due to wildfire activity across our region and neighboring states. Changing wind patterns are carrying smoke into our area, resulting in reduced air quality.

The second image is for tomorrow, which will be slightly worse.

We're switching things up this year! Join us for the RSTVFD First EVER Halloween Parade on Friday, October 30 at the Rosebud Fairgrounds!

If your community is planning a fireworks display and would like the RSTVFD to be on standby, please let us know at least one week in advance.

With multiple communities hosting events around the same time, advance notice helps us coordinate coverage and ensure we can provide support where needed.

Please remember that our firefighters are volunteers who generously give their time away from their families and holiday celebrations to help keep our communities safe. Your cooperation and early communication are greatly appreciated.

Although we are aware that the burn ban has been lifted, please exercise consideration and notify RST 911 if you intend to have a bonfire or burn debris, so we can avoid unnecessary fire truck dispatches. Thank you.
