🌞 EXTREME HEAT ADVISORY 🌞

The Rosebud Sioux Tribe Emergency Preparedness Program reminds everyone that temperatures are expected to reach the upper 90s to 100°F this week.

Please take precautions to protect yourself and others:

* 💧 Drink plenty of water, even if you don’t feel thirsty.
* 🏠 Stay indoors or in air-conditioned locations whenever possible.
* 🌳 Limit outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day (10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.).
* 👵 Check on elders, young children, neighbors, and anyone with medical conditions.
* 🚗 Never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle.
* 👒 Wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothing and use sunscreen when outdoors.
* 🐶 Ensure pets have plenty of fresh water and shade.

Know the signs of heat-related illness. If someone becomes confused, loses consciousness, or stops sweating while overheated, call 911 immediately.

The Rosebud Sioux Tribe Emergency Preparedness Program reminds all residents to take precautions during the current period of extreme heat. High temperatures can quickly lead to heat-related illnesses, especially for older adults, young children, individuals with medical conditions, and those working or spending extended time outdoors.
Heat Safety Tips:
● Drink plenty of water, even if you do not feel thirsty.
● Limit strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day (10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.).
● Take frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas.
● Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing and a hat when outdoors.
● Never leave children, older adults, or pets in a parked vehicle.
● Check on family members, neighbors, and elders to ensure they are safe and staying cool.
Know the Signs of Heat-Related Illness:
● Heavy sweating, dizziness, weakness, headache, nausea, or muscle cramps may be signs of heat exhaustion.
● Confusion, loss of consciousness, hot or dry skin, or a body temperature above 103°F may indicate heat stroke—a life-threatening emergency.
If you suspect someone is suffering from heat stroke, call 911 immediately and move them to a cooler location while waiting for emergency responders.
The Rosebud Sioux Tribe Emergency Preparedness Program will continue to monitor weather conditions and provide updates as needed.
