Greater Douglas United Way

Greater Douglas United Way United Way is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) agency that brings people together to help our community reach its full potential.

We partner with local nonprofits, businesses, government and social service agencies to address our community's most pressing needs. Our Vision
United Way envisions a world where all individuals and families achieve their human potential through education, income stability and healthy lives. Our Mission
United Way improves lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities around the world to adv

ance the common good. Our Goals
In 2008, United Way initiated a 10-year program designed to achieve the following goals by 2018:

Improve education, and cut the number of high school dropouts — 1.2 million students, every year — in half. Help people achieve financial stability, and get 1.9 million working families — half the number of lower-income families who are financially unstable — on the road to economic independence. Promote healthy lives, and increase by one-third the number of youth and adults who are healthy and avoid risky behaviors. Our goals are ambitious, but with your help, and by utilizing our core strengths — a national network, committed partners and public engagement capacity — we can achieve them. Goals for the Common Good Report
You can learn more about United Way's 10-year goals in Education, Income and Health from our report "Goals for the Common Good, the United Way Challenge to America".

☀️ Summer in Douglas County Means Community in Action ☀️

As the days get longer and the calendar fills up with community events, we’re reminded of something special about Douglas County:

When a need arises, people show up.

Throughout the summer you’ll see local nonprofits, volunteers, businesses, churches, and community groups hosting food drives, fundraising events, school supply collections, youth programs, and countless opportunities to lend a hand.

Every donated can of food, every volunteer hour, every event ticket purchased, and every dollar raised helps strengthen the safety net that supports our friends, neighbors, seniors, veterans, and families right here at home.

At Greater Douglas United Way, we’re proud to work alongside organizations that make a difference every day, and not just during a crisis, but all year long.

So as you enjoy the sunshine, local festivals, concerts, sporting events, and community gatherings this summer, consider finding one way to give back.

Together, we can make this a summer that strengthens our entire community.

❤️ Live United. Support Local. Make a Difference.

❤️ Philanthropy Starts at Home

When people hear the word philanthropy, they often think of millionaires and large donations.

Here in Douglas County, philanthropy looks a little different.

It's the volunteer who gives up a Saturday morning.
It's the local business that sponsors a community event.
It's the retiree who mentors a child.
It's the family that donates a few dollars because they believe in helping their neighbors.

Real philanthropy isn't measured by the size of a gift-it's measured by the impact it has on someone's life.

Every day, Greater Douglas United Way sees what happens when people come together to invest in their community. Stronger families. Stronger nonprofits. Stronger neighborhoods.

That's the power of philanthropy.

That's the power of community.

❤️ Thank you to everyone who gives, volunteers, advocates, and supports the work happening throughout Douglas County.

Community Looks Good on Downtown Roseburg

This Friday, Downtown Roseburg comes alive for Fifth Friday, and we’re excited to be part of it!

Come stroll through local shops, meet talented artists and vendors, enjoy free Umpqua Dairy ice cream, visit Wildlife Safari, and help support a community-wide canned food drive benefiting UCAN.

Events like this remind us that strong communities aren’t built by one organization-they’re built by neighbors, businesses, volunteers, and local nonprofits all working together.

If you’re downtown, stop by and say hello. We’d love to connect with you and share how local partnerships continue to make a difference across Douglas County.

📅 Friday, May 29
🕔 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM
📍 Downtown Roseburg

And if you’re able, bring a few cans to support the food drive. Every donation helps a neighbor in need.

Today, communities across Douglas County will pause for something bigger than a long weekend.

From wreath layings beneath the old elm tree at the courthouse… to ceremonies in Sutherlin, Glide, Reedsport, and Roseburg… to the roar of fighter jets overhead at the National Cemetery. Memorial Day reminds us that freedom has always carried a cost.

At Greater Douglas United Way we’re grateful for the veterans, families, volunteers, and community members who continue to show up, remember, and honor those who never made it home.

If you hear the flyover today… stop for a moment.
Look up.
Reflect.
Remember why we gather.

Hot dogs. Lawn chairs. Boat ramps. Sunscreen. 🇺🇸☀️

Memorial Day weekend in Douglas County just hits different.

Whether you’re headed to the lake, firing up the BBQ, camping with friends, or just trying not to burn the burgers this year… we hope your weekend is full of laughter, family, and good memories.

And while you’re enjoying the long weekend, don’t forget to wave at the veterans, thank the families who sacrificed, and appreciate the community we all get to call home. ❤️

From all of us at Greater Douglas United Way have a safe, fun, and meaningful Memorial Day weekend!

Now somebody hand us a potato salad recipe before the family debate starts again. 😂🇺🇸
