Greater Douglas United Way

Greater Douglas United Way United Way is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) agency that brings people together to help our community reach its full potential.

We partner with local nonprofits, businesses, government and social service agencies to address our community's most pressing needs. Our Vision
United Way envisions a world where all individuals and families achieve their human potential through education, income stability and healthy lives. Our Mission
United Way improves lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities around the world to adv

ance the common good. Our Goals
In 2008, United Way initiated a 10-year program designed to achieve the following goals by 2018:

Improve education, and cut the number of high school dropouts — 1.2 million students, every year — in half. Help people achieve financial stability, and get 1.9 million working families — half the number of lower-income families who are financially unstable — on the road to economic independence. Promote healthy lives, and increase by one-third the number of youth and adults who are healthy and avoid risky behaviors. Our goals are ambitious, but with your help, and by utilizing our core strengths — a national network, committed partners and public engagement capacity — we can achieve them. Goals for the Common Good Report
You can learn more about United Way's 10-year goals in Education, Income and Health from our report "Goals for the Common Good, the United Way Challenge to America".

Throwback Thursday / Flashback vibes! 📸⛳️

As Greater Douglas United Way looks back at our roots this year, we found this absolute gem from 1991! Yes, that’s the legend himself—Dave Johnson—chipping a golf ball directly off Bill Hubel’s face. Talk about absolute confidence (and trust)!

Dave Johnson was a driving force for our community, which is why our annual Dave Johnson Memorial Golf Tournament proudly carries his name today. It remains one of our most prominent and favorite fundraising events of the year!

WE STILL HAVE OPENINGS FOR TEAMS!

Gather your friends and join us for a stunning day out on the beautiful Bar Run Golf Course. Thursday September 10th! It’s a fantastic way to enjoy a round of golf while supporting an incredible cause—and remember, 100% of the money raised stays right here in Douglas County to support local individuals and families.

👉⛳️ Sign up your team today! Fill out the document provided in our comments! OR Call us today at (541) 672-1734 to get your team on the books!

BIG HEARTS, LITTLE HISTORIANS!
We had some very special (and very small!) volunteers take over the Greater Douglas United Way downtown office this week, and they brought a whole lot of energy and curiosity with them!

Our little visitors spent the morning learning about what Greater Douglas United Way does for our community and the deep roots we have here. They even got to explore our archives- a massive room filled with decades of history, past events, and a paper trail of good deeds done right here in Douglas County.

While we were digging through the archives and talking about how neighbors’ donations help local families, one of our youngest volunteers perfectly summed up our mission:

"You're all like Robin Hood!"

We couldn't have said it better ourselves. A huge thank you to our mini volunteers for helping us look back at our roots and reminding us exactly why we do this work.

And a special thank you to our donors who make this all possible. In true Robin Hood Fashion, we extend to all of you, an honorary red feather for your cap. Thank you for helping us make Douglas County an amazing place to live, where all families can thrive while living united.
