WHAT’S IN MY CART WEDNESDAY — FOR DOLLY 💗
Y’all.
I have some sad news.
The world lost a whole lot of sparkle yesterday. Dolly Parton is gone, and frankly, I don’t think any of us were prepared for a world with less Dolly in it.
So today we are doing what any reasonable food pantry would do in a time of mourning:
We put a wig on the goose.
And honestly? I look FABULOUS.
Dolly was more than big hair, rhinestones, incredible music and one-liners. She grew up knowing what it meant to not have much, and then spent a lifetime giving back. She gave millions of children books through her Imagination Library and showed us that you can be wildly successful and still spend your life lifting other people up.
That’s our kind of human.
So today’s cart is dedicated to Dolly, and thanks to Steel Magnolias, we knew EXACTLY what to make.
CUPPA, CUPPA, CUPPA!
You need:
1 cup self-rising flour
1 cup sugar
1 cup fruit cocktail with the juice
Mix it all together, pour it into a greased baking dish, and bake at 350°F for about 45 minutes, until golden and bubbly.
THAT’S IT.
Cuppa flour.
Cuppa sugar.
Cuppa fruit cocktail.
Even a goose can make it.
Probably.
Someone should still supervise me around the oven.
And LOOK WHAT WE HAVE AT THE PANTRY THIS WEEK...
FRUIT COCKTAIL!
Coincidence?
Probably.
Am I choosing to believe Dolly sent us a pantry recipe from the great rhinestone-covered honky-tonk in the sky?
ABSOLUTELY.
So today we're playing Dolly a little louder. We're being a little kinder. We're loving our neighbors a little harder.
And I will be wearing this wig until further notice.
Jenn has already asked me to take it off.
I beg your Parton?!
Absolutely not.
Honk honk, Dolly. Thanks for the music, the laughs, the kindness, and for reminding us that helping people never goes out of style.
We will always love you.
