Our purpose is to serve individuals and families of the poorest communities in Ukraine. Providing food, medical attention, shelter and education for Ukrainians whose lives has been devastated because of war. We are dedicated to improving quality of life of poor children and youth by providing basic necessities, critical benefits and services, programs that support long-term development and opportu

nities that prepare them for success. We were founded out of a need to raise awareness for voices not heard. We have continued to make a difference with the help of our donors and volunteers that make our mission possible. Through all these years our purpose remains the same: advocate change through action.

He should be outside right now. Chasing something. Laughing at nothing in particular.

Instead, he’s counting cans.

This boy — still a child — has become the man of the house. His mother is sick. His younger siblings need feeding. His father is gone. The war took him, the way it takes so many things here, without warning and without apology.

So he stands in what’s left of their kitchen and he does what needs to be done.

He counts the cans. He makes the meals. He holds things together with hands that are still too small for this weight.

It takes hours to fill it. Hours of chopping, stirring, watching the steam rise in a kitchen that smells like someone’s grandmother’s house — except this kitchen is twelve kilometers from the front line.

The volunteers don’t talk much while they work. There’s a rhythm to it. The ladle. The heat. The counting.

They came with canes. With worn bags. With the quiet patience of people who have learned to wait.

Today we served hot soup and bread in the square. Elderly residents lined up in the sunshine — some standing, some leaning, all waiting for something simple that has become rare: a hot meal made with care, handed to them by someone who sees them.

There were no speeches. Just a large pot, a ladle, and volunteers who kept filling cups until everyone had enough.

Their town had been shelled for months.

The people who once fed them were gone — evacuated, displaced, or killed. These two dogs waited in the rubble the way dogs do. Loyal to a place that no longer existed.

Our team found them together. They hadn’t left each other.

We don’t know how long they survived alone on the frontline. We don’t know what they heard at night, or what they learned to fear. But we know this: when we opened the kennel door and laid down an old rug, they walked in side by side.

They’re safe now. They’re together.

In this part of Ukraine, blackouts are not an emergency.

They are a routine. The power goes out — sometimes for hours, sometimes longer. Near the front line, there is no reliable schedule for when it comes back.

One family has been living with this for months. An elderly mother, her daughter, a young child, in an apartment four kilometers from active shelling. They chose to stay.

We brought them a solar energy resilience kit.
