On Tuesday, May 26, the Roselle Fire Department was honored to recognize four members with a Medal of Bravery, an award presented to any member of the Fire Department who has performed an act of rescue or attempted rescue under conditions of extreme personal risk.

Firefighter/Paramedic Hubsch, Firefighter/Paramedic Ohlson, and Firefighter/EMT Mattox were awarded the Medal of Bravery for their actions during a structure fire on September 9, 2025.

Battalion Chief Selzer and Firefighter/Paramedic Hubsch were awarded the Medal of Bravery for their actions during a structure fire on January 6, 2026.

We deeply appreciate our members' dedication to our community and are proud to recognize these four individuals with our highest award.

Update 5:00p.m.: phones are now operational again and network issues have been remedied. Village buildings will be open with their normal schedules tomorrow, May 20. Final repairs will also be made tomorrow; if repairs disrupt any operations, we will make a new post. Thank you for your patience in the aftermath of yesterday's power outage!
----
Update 11:15a.m.: Village Hall and Fire Department phones are operational again. We are still working to resolve phone/network issues at Public Works. If you need to contact the Public Works department, please call Village Hall at 630-980-2000.

----
While Village Hall has reopened after yesterday’s power outage, please note that we are still experiencing phone issues at the Roselle Fire Department, Public Works, and at Village Hall. If you need to contact any Village department by phone, please call the Roselle Police Department’s non-emergency number at 630-980-2025.

The power outage was caused by a lightning strike to the police department's radio tower, which also damaged our phone/network systems. Some web-based Village services may be offline as we work on repairs; for example, the portal for utility bill payments is currently working, but the portal for paying tickets is not.

We’ll update this post with any updates for today, May 19. Thank you for your patience as we work to resolve these issues!

Update 12:30p.m.: Village Hall, Police, Fire, and Public Works buildings are closed for the rest of today, May 18. Our phones and network remain down after the earlier power outage. Please dial 9-1-1 in an emergency to reach our police and fire departments.

Village Hall, Roselle Police Department, Roselle Fire Department, and Public Works are currently experiencing a power outage. Phones are not working and facilities are temporarily closed. We are working to resolve the situation and appreciate your patience!

The Roselle Public Works Department is scheduled to begin hydrant flushing on May 11. For any questions regarding hydrant flushing, please reach out to the Public Works Department at 630-980-2020.

Heads up! The Roselle Public Works Department will begin hydrant flushing on May 11. Flushing will take place Monday through Thursday from 7:30a.m. to 2:30p.m. Public Works will place signs at major intersections as they move throughout town. The flushing schedule is subject to change due to weather conditions or emergencies.

Hydrant flushing is routine maintenance. Crews flush hydrants to remove mineral deposits that have accumulated over time, which improves water flow, reduces corrosion and water color problems, and ensures hydrants are operating properly in case of emergencies.

Water is safe to drink during hydrant flushing. During hydrant flushing, you may temporarily notice discolored water, which is caused by iron deposits, or cloudy water, which is caused by harmless air bubbles. If you are experiencing discoloration, run your water for a few minutes until it runs clear. To protect your laundry from any potential stains, refrain from doing laundry while flushing is underway and check your water's clarity and color before starting a load.
