Honor Flight Chicago's mission is to honor our senior Veterans, who inspired future generations with their service.

On June 3 at 11:30 a.m., join ABC News Chief Global Affairs Correspondent Martha Raddatz for a special luncheon and conversation at the Union League Club of Chicago where she will discuss her new book, The Hero Next Door. Hear stories of courage, service, and sacrifice from our more recent service members who followed in the footsteps of those who came before.

Ticket includes a copy of The Hero Next Door, and Martha will sign copies. Ticket sales end Monday at 11:00 AM, so don't wait!

Honor Flight Chicago launched a Gold Star family program last year to honor our country's fallen and their loved ones aboard each of our flights.

This Memorial Day, we remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our nation, and those who grieve their loss to this day.

The youngest vet on today’s flight is 69, oldest 97, average age 79.

The flight consists of 113 Males, and 3 Females.

On todays flight there are
7 Combat Infantries, 1 Expert Infantry, 1 Combat Medic, 1 Marine Fleet Force Medic, 2 Navy Corpsmen, 1 Dolphin (sub), 2 Airborne Wings, 1 Master Aviator, 1 Marine Corps Combat Air, 1 Air Force Combat Crew, 1 Navy Aviator, and 2 Aviator Crew Wings,

2 Bronze Star with Valor, 1 Bronze Star Oak Leaf Cluster, 5 Bronze Star, 4 Purple Hearts, 1 Navy Achievement with Valor, and 4 Air Medal recipients on today’s flight.

62 Army, 13 Marine Corps, 23 Navy, and 18 Air Force heroes.

To date, since the first flight in June, 2008, has Flown a total of 12,436 heroes.
6,357 from WWII
2,289 from Korean War
3,790 from Vietnam War.

Every year, Honor Flight Chicago flies hundreds of veteran heroes to Washington D.C. to see the memorials erected in their honor. They are treated with a full day of the honor and respect they deserve! Our heroes arrived at at 3:30am today. It’s been a very long day for many of them. But here to cheer them on and begin their much deserved welcome home and they will be greeted by the cheers of 32 sailors at the gate, a pipe and drum band, the Frankfort Brass Band, and thousands of patiently waiting family and friends in baggage claim.

A huge thank you to Mishawaka Fire IAFF Local 360, which for the second-straight year raised funds for our mission through the design and sale of a special t-shirt.
