Way to go, Wright Junior High! As we recognize Attendance Awareness Month, we love seeing our campuses celebrate the importance of showing up, staying engaged, and making every school day count.

Attendance matters every day at Wright Junior High!

Our 7th graders earned the August Attendance WIN with 96.72%, while our 8th graders achieved 96.22%. Together, our campus attendance rate was 96.47%, exceeding our 96% goal!

Thank you, parents and guardians, for ensuring our Lions are at school, on time, and ready to learn. Every day counts, and instruction remains our #1 priority at WJH!

📸 Take a look back at the official dedication of Paul Scherer Memorial Stadium!

On August 27, students, families, staff, and community members gathered to celebrate the new facility and recognize the legacy of the man whose name it carries.

Paul Scherer spent more than two decades serving on the Lamar CISD Board of Trustees and was known throughout the community for his leadership, humility, and commitment to giving back. As the District continues to grow, the stadium will create new opportunities and experiences for students while carrying his legacy forward.

WEATHER UPDATE | Monday, August 31

Lamar CISD schools and facilities will be OPEN and operate on their regular schedules tomorrow, Tuesday, September 1.

District leaders participated in a regional weather briefing this afternoon. While our area may experience rain and wind, current forecasts do not indicate conditions that would warrant canceling school.

We are aware of inaccurate information circulating online, including AI-generated information stating that Lamar CISD will be closed tomorrow. That information is false.

We will continue monitoring weather conditions throughout the evening and early morning. If anything changes that impacts school operations, Lamar CISD will communicate directly with families and staff.

This week, Dr. Roosevelt Nivens joined Katy ISD Superintendent Dr. Ken Gregorski and Royal ISD Superintendent Dr. Megan C. Pape as panelists at the Katy Area Chamber's State of the Schools Luncheon, discussing district growth, student success, and workforce readiness.

Dr. Nivens continued representing Lamar CISD at the Fort Bend Regional Partnership's 3rd Annual State of Criminal Justice Summit, contributing to discussions on public safety, juvenile justice, workforce development, and community collaboration.

Both events provided valuable opportunities to highlight Lamar CISD's commitment to student success and to strengthen partnerships that support a thriving community. Thank you to the Katy Area Chamber and Fort Bend Regional Partnership for bringing leaders together to engage in meaningful conversations that shape the future of our region. 💙
