The night before 9/11…

America was simply America.

People went to work. Parents tucked their children into bed. Families made plans. Friends laughed. Life carried on as it always had.

No one knew they were living in the quiet before the storm.

No one knew that by the next morning, America would be shaken to its core. That thousands of innocent lives would be lost. That families would receive phone calls that would forever change their lives. That an entire generation would remember exactly where they were when the world changed.

The night before, tomorrow was just another day.

And then September 11th happened.

Today, as we remember, we don’t only remember the lives that were lost. We remember the courage of those who ran toward the danger while everyone else was trying to get away.

To every firefighter, police officer, EMT, paramedic, doctor, nurse, rescue worker, military member, volunteer, and ordinary person who stepped forward to help that day—thank you.

Thank you to those who searched through the rubble.
Thank you to those who treated the wounded.
Thank you to those who carried strangers to safety.
Thank you to those who gave blood, food, supplies, comfort, and prayers.
And thank you to every first responder and volunteer who continues to serve and protect others today.

Some heroes never came home.

Some came home carrying memories they would never be able to leave behind.

And some are still serving today.

Tonight, remember the quiet of September 10th, 2001—the last night before America changed forever.

Remember the innocent lives.

Remember the heroes.

Remember the sacrifice.

And above all, never forget. 🇺🇸

Exciting news! E.S.D. #6 has received an improved fire insurance rating, moving from a 7/7X to a 3/3X. This improvement reflects our continued commitment to providing excellent fire protection, training, equipment, and service to our community. The new rating may help lower insurance premiums for homeowners and businesses while reflecting a stronger level of fire protection. Please note that this improvement is NOT effective until October 1, 2026.

Fort Bend County has issued an outdoor burn ban for all unincorporated areas of the county, effective today, August 27, at 5 p.m.

Extreme heat, worsening drought conditions, and limited rainfall have significantly increased the risk of wildfires. As of today, Fort Bend County’s Keetch-Byram Drought Index (KBDI) is 634 on a scale of 0–800, indicating significantly dry conditions and an increased potential for fire activity.

🚫 While the burn ban is in effect, outdoor burning is prohibited in unincorporated Fort Bend County. This includes:
• Burning trash or debris
• Campfires
• Burn barrels
• Other open-flame burning that is not fully contained as required by the County’s order

🔥 Please do your part to prevent wildfires. Even a small spark can quickly become dangerous under these dry conditions. Use extra caution with anything that could ignite dry grass or vegetation, including discarded ci******es, hot equipment, welding, and vehicles parked over dry grass.

The Fort Bend County Fire Marshal’s Office will continue monitoring drought and weather conditions. The burn ban may be rescinded when conditions improve.

Stay weather aware the next 3 days as we are all under a National Weather Service Flood Watch through 7 a.m. Wednesday.
