☀️ School’s Out for Summer! ☀️

Today we wrapped up another year at Parkview with beloved traditions—7/8 picnic at Central Park, 8th graders gathering to say goodbye before dismissal and staff waving buses off from the hill with music, bubbles, and good vibes!

Have a safe, restful summer, Parkview. We’ll see you back in September! And 8th graders, don’t forget to come back and visit. 🥳

🐾 Learning at the Pet Shop! 🐾

Through dramatic play, Parkview kindergartners become pet shop workers and customers—feeding, bathing, and walking pets while practicing buying and selling.

They’re also building early literacy with CVC words (cat, dog) and digraphs (sh, ch, th, wh). Hands-on, joyful learning in action!

Today Parkview’s 5th and 6th graders welcomed acclaimed author V.T. Bidania ✨📚, who shared about her powerful new novel, A Year Without Home—a deeply moving story based on her own family’s escape from Laos in the aftermath of the Vietnam War. Her visit connected history and storytelling in an inspiring way ❤️🌏.

A big thank you to our amazing Media Library Specialist, Laura Given, for helping to create this opportunity for Parkview students!

For two weeks following spring break, PCS 8th graders explored financial literacy through the Junior Achievement Finance Park program. 💰

They learned about budgeting, taxes, saving, investing, and credit—then put it into action during a full-day simulation at Finance Park in St. Paul. Safe to say… adulting is harder than it looks! 😅

Thank you to the Little Canada Recreation Association, along with our volunteers, donors, and staff, for making this meaningful experience possible!

✨ Celebrating Young Poets ✨

Last week, our 1st graders hosted a cozy Poetry Café for kindergartners—sharing their own poetry books over snacks and smiles. 📖

Reflections from our young authors:
💬 “Writing felt stressful, but reading was fun!”
💬 “It felt important—I liked having their attention.”

Advice for future poets:
💡 “As long as they listen to the teachers, they’ll know what to do.”

We’re so proud of our 1st graders for sharing their voices with courage and heart—and grateful to our 1st grade team for creating this special experience! 🐾

Our friends at Cornerstone Concrete stopped by Parkview today to see how students and staff are enjoying the new sidewalks—so of course we had to get a picture and gently break the news to students that they probably won’t become famous from this post! 😄

We’re so grateful for Cornerstone’s generosity and proud to have them as a standout partner in our Inclusive Playground Project 💛

Kudos to our Parkview 3rd and 4th graders for creating some seriously awesome thank-you cards!
