Science was ROCKING in Ms. Furdek’s 4th grade class! Students had a blast cracking open their very own geodes to discover the beautiful crystals hidden inside. What a fun, hands-on way to explore geology and see the wonders of science come to life!

Our PAWS (Parents Assisting With Sports) program is bringing even more fun to recess at Excelsior!

We love seeing our parent volunteers out on the playground, helping students stay active, build friendships, practice teamwork, and enjoy some friendly competition! PAWS is a wonderful way for families to get involved while helping us create a positive and engaging recess experience for our Eagles.

A huge thank-you to our PAWS volunteers for sharing their time and energy with our students! Interested in joining the fun? Check out our Wednesday ParentSquare newsletter for information on how to get involved!

Our 6th graders put science into action by designing and building their own solar cookers! They tested their creations with the best kind of experiment—making sweet treats like s’mores to enjoy and share with friends. A little sunshine, a lot of learning, and a pretty delicious result!

What a wonderful way to wrap up our Read-a-Thon!

Friday’s Family Read-In was the perfect ending to a fun and successful event. We loved welcoming so many families to campus to spend time together and celebrate our students.

A very special thank you to our amazing PTC for all of their hard work in making the Read-a-Thon and Family Read-In possible! We are so grateful for the time, energy, and heart they put into creating memorable experiences for our students and supporting programs across our campus.

Thank you as well to our Excelsior families for participating, donating, and encouraging a love of books and learning at home. Your support makes such a difference!

Part One of our Read-a-Thon Spirit Week has been a blast!

We kicked things off with Mismatch Monday, and our Eagles definitely understood the assignment! Wild combinations, clashing patterns, and plenty of creativity filled our campus.

Today, students stepped right out of the pages as their favorite book characters! We loved seeing so many familiar faces from beloved stories come to life.

What a great start to Spirit Week—we can’t wait to see what the rest of the week brings!

READING IS SWEET!

Our “Reading is Sweet” Read-a-thon is officially underway, and we kicked things off in the sweetest way—with a special visit from W***y Wonka!

Our Eagles headed outside to enjoy 30 minutes of reading, spin the prize wheel, and celebrate the start of a fun-filled week of reading!

A HUGE thank you to our incredible PTC for the amazing decorations and for putting together such a memorable kickoff for our students. They truly brought the Wonka magic to Excelsior!

This week’s goal: Read for 30 minutes every day to track on their log sheet, and bring in those donations to support Excelsior!

And don’t forget—Friday, October 2 is our Family Read-In! We can’t wait to see our Eagles and their families wrap up a sweet week of reading together. 🍭

Many thanks to Carina Parks for the beautiful photos!
