Despite how many "safeguards" are put in place, ALPR cameras are a gross violation of civil liberties and constitutional rights.

RAD has obtained ALPR data from Roseville PD via Public Record Acts Requests. The data is alarming. In just a one-month period, the 37 agencies that RPD shares data with made over 130,000 search inquiries. That's about 97% of all searches - similar to the recent audit in Elk Grove.

RPD has also paid over $500,000 for Flock cameras and services, which includes 42 cameras.

As your police department, we understand that the use of Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) technology can raise questions. We live and work in this community alongside you, and we believe it is important to explain how we use this technology, the safeguards we have in place, and our commitment to protecting your privacy, constitutional rights, and trust.

ALPR technology is one of many investigative tools that helps us recover stolen vehicles, identify investigative leads, locate wanted suspects, and support criminal investigations. While the technology’s capabilities matter, how we choose to use it matters even more

Every ALPR alert is treated as an investigative lead. It is not evidence of a crime or probable cause for enforcement action. Before any enforcement action is taken, officers are required to independently verify the information and ensure there is a legal reason for any detention, stop, or arrest. Human judgment, not technology, drives every enforcement decision.

Key Fact:
Roseville Police Department has had zero instances where someone has been subjected to a law enforcement contact solely because of an inaccurate ALPR alert.

This is the direct result of the policies, training, and safeguards we have established to ensure ALPR technology is used responsibly and appropriately.

After a shocking report from Business Insider that found Flock misread 71% of license plate alerts, Roseville PD said they will continue using Flock cameras, despite acknowledging the issues.

7/31/26 - Roseville Social Security Office: Patriotic resisters were out on this beautiful Friday for another weekly rally. With this administration, we cannot take any social safety nets for granted. We must rally and remind our community that caring for our neighbors is what makes America great. Stop sending bombs overseas and start send money to our schools and safety net programs.

Renee Good. Alex Pretti. Lorenzo Salgado Araujo. Joan Sebastian Guerrero. Four innocent lives cut short. They should be alive today. Instead, they were senselessly murdered by ICE and federal agents.

The Roseville Area Democratic Club is committed to building an active Democratic community and supporting our neighbors. That means being part of the community, sharing resources, and having fun!

We keep us safe! Today, RAD members canvassed the neighborhood where two targeted ICE abductions occurred last month. Roseville, CA - June 14, 2026: Several hundred patriots lined the corners of Galleria and Roseville pkwy for a local No Kings event to celebrate America and stand against 80 year old fascists in the White House. We love America, which is why we're fighting against fascism and the authoritarian aggression of the current federal government. A better future is possible. Join RAD now to get involved locally.

Rally at Galleria tomorrow, June 14, 2026, from 10am -12pm to celebrate America's 250th and protest the 34 count convicted felon and sexual abuser (as found liable by a jury) turning 80 years old.

This local community event will have participation from RAD, Placer Women Democrats, RATT pack, Invisible groups, and more. Stay hydrated and find shade!

Please note that although the original "No Kings" event was held on June 14th, this is not a "No Kings 4." The next No kings will likely be later in the year. This is a local event with national watch parties for a "Rise up, Sing Out" concert celebrating the First Amendment happening at 4:30pm. Learn more at nokings.org.
