Local 1614 would like to recognize and thank Scott Bala for 27 years of dedicated service to our union. Scott has selflessly dedicated himself to serving our Local, State, and International Union. He has been a leader and a mentor to everyone at this department. He is the true definition of what it means to be a Union Brother. Yesterday, we got to honor his retirement from our local board by presenting him with this plaque in honor of his service. Scott has served Local 1614 for 27 years, 18 of them as Union President. He has overcome many challenges and has done so while being a great leader. Our Union board will not feel the same without him. From all of us at Local 1614, thank you for everything that you have done for us and the city of Roseville.

Although Scott is retiring from our Local Union Board, he will still be serving the residents of Roseville as our Battalion Chief. Scott is still not done serving our Union. He has decided to run for MPFFU 6th District VP. We hope that everyone helps in supporting him on his new adventure as he continues to serve us all.

Merry Christmas from our families to yours!

This year our Christmas Families program was able to sponsor 5 families that live in our city. We sent out our members and shopped for food, Christmas gifts, items the families needed, school supplies, and clothes. Each unit sponsored a family, shopped, and delivered gifts to them. We are so grateful for the support of our community to help us keep these programs working and to be able to give back to our residents that need a little extra help. Merry Christmas everyone!

We were able to provide 28 Thanksgiving meals to Roseville families that needed a little extra help this year. We were able to do this for so many reasons and we want to say THANK YOU! Thank you to the Eastpointe-Roseville Chamber of Commerce, Roseville Optimist Club, members of our department, Roseville residents, Carmela at Sos Marysville Food Pantry who donated 25 turkeys,Kroger, Fountain Elementary School who decorated all of our bags for our families this year (they looked amazing!), The City of Roseville, Chief Jacobs, and anyone else that we may be forgetting. Thank You! We hope to continue this program for many years. Any money that was leftover will go into our charity account and will be used to help support our Christmas program.

Thanksgiving meals for families in need:

The Roseville Fire Fighters are looking for families in our community that may need some help with a Thanksgiving dinner this year. We have been able to acquire the supplies for 30 dinners, and are working on gathering more. If you are in need of some help or know of anyone in our city that needs help (family, neighbor, friend, etc.) please email us below or private message this page and we will add you to our list to reserve your meal. These meals are not cooked and will consist of a turkey, all the sides, rolls, and a dessert. The meals will be able to be picked up Tuesday, November 23rd and if needed, we will be able to drop off a few meals. We need everyone's help in locating these families that may need help. Not everyone has social media, especially elderly neighbors. Please don't hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions and please share this post so that we can reach as many families as we can.

Request for Community Donations for the Roseville Fire Fighters Local 1614 Thanksgiving Dinner Donations.

The Roseville Fire Fighters Union is seeking donations to help support our Thanksgiving Dinner Donation Program. This program was started 3 years ago by our membership and has been able to donate over 120 meals back to our citizens who need a little help around the Holiday Season.

In the past, we have been able to fund this program through our charity account. Our charity account is funded through our CPR program, car seat program, and selling off-duty fire apparel throughout the year at events. Unfortunately, like most programs, Covid forced our department to pause many of these programs and in turn decreased the amount we were able to raise throughout the year. Our charity account provides all the funding for our Thanksgiving Dinner program and our Christmas Families program and we usually zero the account out and start over year after year. This year we are asking for help from our citizens to keep this program alive. We have some funding and have received some donations from businesses, but we want to help as many families as we can. We will be accepting any cash donations, gift cards (Kroger, Meijer, Sams etc.) non-refrigerated food items (potatoes, pasta, canned items), or anything that would help support 30-50 Thanksgiving meals for families. Any money that is left over would be put towards our Christmas Families program. Each year we sponsor 4-5 families in Roseville and help provide Christmas for them with gifts for the kids and food. More on that program to come later.

Please Contact FF. Mike Schwartz for any questions or donations by private messaging this page or Emailing: [email protected]

Donations can be dropped off at Roseville Fire Department Headquarters 18750 Common Road.

If you know of or are in need of a Thanksgiving meal this year please contact us by using the information above. We are limited in our meals but are trying to help as many families as we can.

Thank you,
Roseville Fire Fighters Local 1614

Firefighters rescue pets from burning condo in Roseville

Great work by the Roseville Fire Department. A fast response time with well trained, full time firefighters kept this fire from destroying an entire building. The fire had breached the eaves and got in to the attic but was stopped before spreading throughout the entire roof. Also, many happy pet owners were relieved to be reunited with the fur babies. We are proud to serve our community and ready to help your family in times of need.

Saving human lives is paramount for any fire department.

On this night 20 years ago 246 people went to sleep in preparation for their morning flights. 2,606 people went to sleep in preparation for work in the morning. 343 firefighters went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift. 60 police officers went to sleep in preparation for morning patrol. 8 paramedics went to sleep in preparation for the morning shift of saving lives. None of them saw past 10:00am Sept 11, 2001. In one single moment life may never be the same. Tonight as you go to sleep in preparation for your life tomorrow, kiss the ones you love, snuggle a little tighter, and never take one second of your life for granted.

Please help us in supporting our Battalion Chief Scott Bala. BC Bala has been practicing for an upcoming charity event "Stepping Out with the Stars" where he will be competing in a dance competition (think Dancing with the Stars).
