Firefighters rescue pets from burning condo in Roseville

Great work by the Roseville Fire Department. A fast response time with well trained, full time firefighters kept this fire from destroying an entire building. The fire had breached the eaves and got in to the attic but was stopped before spreading throughout the entire roof. Also, many happy pet owners were relieved to be reunited with the fur babies. We are proud to serve our community and ready to help your family in times of need.

Saving human lives is paramount for any fire department.

We will never forget.

On this night 20 years ago 246 people went to sleep in preparation for their morning flights. 2,606 people went to sleep in preparation for work in the morning. 343 firefighters went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift. 60 police officers went to sleep in preparation for morning patrol. 8 paramedics went to sleep in preparation for the morning shift of saving lives. None of them saw past 10:00am Sept 11, 2001. In one single moment life may never be the same. Tonight as you go to sleep in preparation for your life tomorrow, kiss the ones you love, snuggle a little tighter, and never take one second of your life for granted.

Please help us in supporting our Battalion Chief Scott Bala. BC Bala has been practicing for an upcoming charity event "Stepping Out with the Stars" where he will be competing in a dance competition (think Dancing with the Stars). This event is done through Turning Point, Inc. They are an amazing charity that helps provide programs and resources that enable survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault to regain control of their lives.

Please consider donating to help support Turning Point but also to help our BC WIN the "Peoples Choice" vote. Every $5 donation is worth 1 vote! Roseville Fire Local 1614 has made an initial donation of $1,000. From all your brothers and sisters at the RFD, thank you for everything you do for the City of Roseville and our department! Good Luck! Please see the links below for donation information.

During the pandemic, like most of us, FF Sand and FF Junkin were not able to get a haircut. With the permission from our Chief (Thank You) they decided to turn a negative into a positive. They grew their hair out with the goal of donating it to Maggie's Wigs 4 Kids of Michigan, Inc Our Union was able to help out and donated $1,000 to this amazing charity. Maggie's Wigs 4 Kids is a local charity that makes and provides Wigs to children with cancer. They do all of this for free using donations from the community. With the hair and money that was donated, they will be able to provide one child a custom fitted wig. Please consider donating to help support this charity. Great Job FF. Sand and FF. Junkin. You've made everyone at the RFD proud. 👏 🏆

A big thank you our Mayor for stopping by and supporting our fire fighters while they were out training at a house today.

Our members were out training at a donated house. They were practicing turning windows into doorways in case of a rescue emergency.

We would also like to say thank you to John and Gidget Slayton, who have been residents for 50 years!!! They were kind enough to donate some baklava to us. 😋

Please consider donating to The Thomas R. Mill Memorial Scholarship Fund.

On September 8, 2020 we lost Retired Training Chief, Thomas Mill, who passed away suddenly due to COVID-19. Tom began working at Macomb Community College in 2000 after retiring as Chief of Training at Roseville Fire Department. Prior to working at Roseville Fire, he worked as a PSO for the City of Fraser. He had a long and rewarding career servicing Macomb County. Tom joined the Public Service Institute at Macomb Community College as a full-time faculty member in the Emergency Medical Services department. He served in this capacity until his retirement in 2017. Tom played a major role in the lives of countless students he taught, mentored and guided throughout their lives. Tom left a lasting footprint on the community he served and the students he taught and mentored. His passing was a devastating loss to the public service community.

Tom’s family and friends established the Thomas R. Mill Memorial Scholarship at Macomb Community College, ensuring his name and legacy remains in the community for generations to come. Once funded, this scholarship will provide assistance for Firefighting, EMS, and Police candidates at Macomb Community College.

Memorial donations can be made to The Thomas R. Mill Memorial Scholarship Fund at Macomb Community College. Memorial gifts can be made online at: www.macomb.edu/give click on designation. A drop down menue will appear. Click on Thomas R. Mill Memorial Scholarship or mail your gift to: MCC Foundation, 14500 E. 12 Mile Road, Warren, MI 48088. The MCC Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that manages contributions from individuals, foundations and corporations, to support the mission of Macomb Community College. The fund must have a $15,000 balance to become a perpetual, annual scholarship. If you are in the Fire/Police/EMS field, you know how badly we need trained applicants! Let’s support our communities’ public services and memorialize what Tom cherished so passionately!

Roseville Fire Union Local 1614 has pledged to make a donation in the amount of $1,614 to this foundation.

Over the past few years your Roseville Fire Fighters Union has been able to adopt multiple families throughout the Holiday season. This year was no different and we were able to adopt 4 families throughout Roseville who needed a little help this year. Our members donated their time to shop for toys, clothing, food, beds, and coats for these families. We are so proud to be able to do this for our community and will keep the tradition going. We are able to do this because of our Roseville Fire Fighters Charity account that we have developed over the years. Anytime you support our events that support our Charity account, we are able to give back to our residents. We would like to give a big thank you to everyone that was involved with the donations, shopping, wrapping, and delivering of the gifts. As always, have a great Holiday Season and thank you for your continued support of your Roseville Fire Department.

Roseville Fire Fighters 3nd annual Thanksgiving Dinner Donations!

We need everyone’s help. Last year with the communities assistance, we were able to donate over 40 meals.

The Roseville Fire Fighters Union would like to give back to our residents this Thanksgiving! We have taken a collection from our members and have purchased 30 Thanksgiving meals. We would like to donate these meals to Roseville families that could use a little extra help during this holiday season. If you or someone you know is a Roseville resident, and are in need, please contact the Roseville Fire Fighters at the email address listed below or send us a private message. After you contact us, we will confirm that we have a meal for you. We will then organize a time frame for you to come pick up your dinner at Roseville HQ 18750 Common Road. We plan to start handing meals out Tuesday afternoon through Thanksgiving Day. The meal will include 1 Turkey (thawed), potatoes (instant and real), stuffing, corn, green beans, cranberry sauce, gravy, applesauce, rolls, and a dessert. In special circumstances, we may be able to cook part of the meal for families that need it. Happy Holidays from your Roseville Fire Fighters!!!

Contact Info: [email protected] or private message us.

*If you are looking to donate to this cause we ask that you please make your donation to one of our upcoming holiday events (coat drive, toy drive, or our Christmas families). Due to the generous donations from our members and local donors we are all set for these meals. Thank you 😊

Congrats to Fire Marshal Bill Ciner, of the Roseville Fire Department for receiving Fire Inspector of the Year. He has worked tirelessly to organize the SFM's smoke alarm blitz for multiple east side departments and was able to find PPE to protect local firefighter's.

"How much does all that gear weigh?"
This is a common question we are asked. Here is a breakdown of just a few tools we commonly use, daily.

Picture 1: A firefighter wearing his duty uniform. This is worn around the station while performing daily chores or cleaning, training, medical runs, and public assists.

Picture 2: A firefighter in his turnout gear and helmet, with an axe and halligan, commonly called "Irons." This is how we are dressed when responding to vehicle accidents, some hazardous incidents, or when doing forcible entry tasks.

Picture 3: A firefighter wearing his turnout gear, SCBA, Irons, and a water can. This is what firefighters may utilize when responding to grass fires, fire alarms, or the early stages of a structure fire.

Picture 4: A firefighter wearing his turnout gear, SCBA, Irons, and hose bundle. We typically use this when responding to high rise or commercial structure fires, as well as residential structure fires that are set back in a deep lot.

Did you know that grease fires are often more dangerous because people don’t know how to put them out. Be prepared and have the lid to your pan in arms reach.
