**MESSAGE FROM THE CHIEF OF POLICE**
To the Residents of Roseville,
After 32 years of proudly serving this community as a police officer and, ultimately, as your Chief of Police, the time has come for me to say farewell.
It is difficult to put into words what this city and its people have meant to me. For more than three decades, I have had the privilege of serving alongside dedicated men and women who chose a life of service, and I have been fortunate to work with countless residents who shared in our commitment to making this community a safe, welcoming, and better place for everyone.
From my first day as a police officer to my final day as Chief, I have tried to carry out my responsibilities with honor, courage, fairness, and the utmost integrity. I have always understood that wearing the badge was not simply a job it was a tremendous responsibility and a privilege entrusted to me by the people I served.
I am deeply grateful to you, the residents, for allowing me that privilege. Thank you for your unwavering support of our police department and for the trust you placed in us, especially during the most challenging times. Your encouragement, your appreciation, and even your willingness to hold us accountable made us stronger and reminded us every day of whom we served.
Over the years, I have witnessed this community come together in times of celebration, hardship, tragedy, and change. I have shared in countless moments that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. The people I have met, the relationships I have built, and the experiences we have shared will always be among the greatest honors of my life.
I leave this position with an overwhelming sense of gratitude and pride not simply for what we accomplished, but for the opportunity to have been part of this community for 32 years. While I may be retiring from the police department, I will never stop caring about the city and the people who have been such an important part of my life.
To the officers, dispatchers, professional staff, command staff, and all those who serve this community, thank you for your dedication, sacrifice, and friendship. It has been an honor to stand beside you and to serve alongside some truly exceptional people. I have never taken that honor for granted.
And to the residents, thank you for allowing me to wear the badge, for trusting me with the responsibility of protecting and serving your community, and for standing behind the men and women of this department. Thirty-two years is a long time, but in many ways, it feels like only yesterday that I began this journey.
I leave knowing that I gave this community my very best, always striving to serve with honor and the utmost integrity. I am proud of the career I chose, proud of the people I served with, and most of all, grateful for the people I had the privilege to serve.
It has been the honor of my life to serve as your police officer and your Chief of Police.

**Chief Berlin had the privilege of flying with the Border Patrol Air and Marine Operations Unit last week and cruised over the city he protected and served for 32 years.
