There are a few dates in American history that should never need an explanation. June 6, 1944 is one of them.

Operation Overlord, better known as D-Day, marked the start of the Allied liberation of Western Europe. American troops landed at Utah and Omaha beaches alongside British and Canadian forces. The fighting in that single day was brutal beyond description, and by nightfall, more than 4,400 Allied soldiers had been killed.

82 years later, the words "the greatest generation" still come up because of what happened that day and the days that followed. Many veterans who serve in our community now stand on that same legacy.

This association does not let June 6 pass quietly. We never will.

There has been a lot public discussion regarding the Williams case that stemmed from a Roseville PD investigation. A lot of people have given opinions without knowing the facts or how the court process works.

The Placer County DA's association breaks down the process and provides the transcripts. The prosecution and the defense both made arguments for their positions and ultimately the Judge made a decision. You have questions, ask those involved and get informed. If you don't want this in your community, then get out and vote.

Today is Memorial Day. Not a long weekend. Not a sale. A day set aside to remember the men and women who gave everything.

The roots of this holiday go back to May 1868, when General John A. Logan issued a proclamation designating May 30 as a day to decorate the graves of those who died in the Civil War. What began as flowers placed on graves eventually grew into a national observance honoring every American service member lost in every conflict this country has ever fought. More than 1.3 million Americans have died in military service throughout the nation's history.

Our members are working today, as they do on every holiday, keeping this community safe while families gather to remember. We do not take that lightly on any day, but especially not this one.

Share this post to make sure the original meaning of this day reaches your entire network.

There has been a lot of conversations surrounding this judicial election, but those of us working at the ground level in public safety view these issues very differently. Here’s an example:

Through Proposition 36 and direct community feedback, Placer County residents made it clear they want more accountability surrounding retail theft. In response, law enforcement, prosecutors, retailers, and community partners increased collaboration, investment, and enforcement efforts through the countywide Retail Theft Initiative.

That is why diversion decisions in retail theft cases are so concerning. It limits prosecutors ability to hold repeat thieves accountable. In this case in this article, the individual stole $6000 of merchandise.

After significant community investment to deter retail theft, accountability can effectively be erased through diversion outcomes that remove or obscure criminal records tied to repeat offending behavior.

We do not take these endorsement discussions lightly. The people speaking up are the same people working every day to keep Placer County safe, protect businesses, preserve quality of life, and ensure our communities remain places people want to live, shop, and raise families.

Public safety requires partnership from every part of the justice system — including the judiciary.

This is one of many reasons we support Dave Bass for Placer County Judge.

The sentiment surrounding the Placer County judicial race reveals something much larger than a disagreement over one election - a growing discomfort with the idea that local communities have input in their judiciary.

May 15th is Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls is National Police Week.

Chief Beigh and members of our Honor Guard team journeyed to the nation’s capital today to pay tribute to Officer Mark White, who made the ultimate sacrifice on February 10th, 1995. During their visit, they joined Liz and Whitney for a series of events commemorating Mark and all fallen officers.

This journey reflects our unwavering commitment to Liz to honor Mark and to keep his memory alive in our hearts. 💙

Today is Peace Officer Memorial Day, and our association is pausing to honor it the right way.

On October 1, 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed Public Law 87-726, officially designating May 15 as the day this nation recognizes law enforcement personnel killed or disabled in the line of duty. According to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, an average of 150 to 160 law enforcement professionals are killed in the line of duty every year in the United States.

In observance of this day, we are running a fundraising drive. Financial stability for surviving families is not a bonus. It is a responsibility we take seriously.

This week Officer Wilson was recognized by the Roseville Joint Union High School District for helping save a student's life.

A student at Westpark High School was suffering a medical emergency on campus. Officer Wilson and school staff jumped in and began CPR. The quick intervention between Officer Wilson, the school nurse and staff saved the students life. The student was transported to the ICU and doctor's credited the quick intervention for saving the students life. Great Job Officer Wilson!!!!

Today is Children of Fallen Patriots Day, and it is one of the more sobering dates on the calendar.

May 13 was chosen for this observance because it marks the day Arlington National Cemetery was established in 1864. That connection is intentional. The Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation estimates that approximately 25,000 children have lost a parent in the line of military duty over the last 35 years. Without support, only 20 percent of those children complete college. With the foundation's assistance, that rate rises to 91 percent.

These are children who carried a loss most people their age could not begin to understand. Many members of this association are veterans. We do not take this day lightly.

Share this post to bring visibility to the children and families still carrying the cost of military service.
