Greg Abbott is going after H1 Visa’s that are nearly all held by foreign language teachers. I just posted this on Twitter: Greg Abbott is removing Foreign Languages from our classrooms. How do we know this? Ask questions.
How many H-1 B visas are held by public schools? 2,300 employees have H-1B Visas; that’s 0.071% of total public school employees. Not even 1%.
What jobs do they hold? Elementary Bilingual teachers, Math Teachers, Science Teachers, Spanish Teachers, and Special Education teachers.
Who is going to feel these cuts? Your kids, because now they can’t earn a foreign language credit because they cut your kids’ teacher. That’s less than 1% of the total number of Public School Employees who are doing their jobs! Think about that. When is Greg Abbott not picking on 1% of the population to get you to hate other people? Never; that’s all he does!
