When people ask Christopher Hensley how long he has lived in Roswell, he gives an interesting response.

Chris Hensley is PROUD to be a Candidate for Roswell City Council, Ward 2. Hensley is a 43 year-old husband and father of four children (one deceased) and one precious, two year-old granddaughter. Chris and his wife Kelsey, a petroleum geologist, invested in the Roswell community to open an Independent Land Management Company. He states, “He has lived here long enough to raise his children, but not long enough to become complacent.”

Hensley has chosen to run for office out of deep concern for the growth and prosperity of the Roswell community. He has been asked by many fellow citizens to volunteer to represent them in Ward 2. He feels it is an honored duty to answer that call and serve others. Chris recognizes that the Roswell City Council is in need of a change and new direction, with fresh perspectives, new people and new plans to solve many issues.

Hensley believes he has the business acumen needed to serve on the council. He has years of experience working with many different types of businesses. He feels the city’s issues should be treated as any business should- to find the places where we are thriving and failing and make the appropriate changes. Hensley reiterates the statement that defines failure: “You cannot continue the same patterns and expect a different outcome.”

Chris is especially concerned with the issues of community growth, a decline in the census, economic development, community investments and resources for families. He is also concerned about the poverty levels and rising crime and wishes to delve into the source of the problems. He feels there needs to be more community outreach and more for young people and parents to do for family entertainment and enrichment. Hensley realizes that issues within our community affect not only his own children, but everyone else’s as well. Future decisions made within city politics will definitely have an effect on future generations.

Chris feels he is open to many perspectives - as his own life has taken him through many difficult challenges. He came from humble beginnings and is a self-made man. At a young age, he lost second child and had to overcome many difficulties.Tragedy did not deter him, but strengthened him with the will to make his own way in the world. Hensley states that his life experiences allow him to relate to many types of people. “I can feel comfortable relating to people living in poverty or when I’m sitting in a room full of wealthy millionaires.”

Hensley believes his varied life experiences and openness to people of all walks of life equips him to be able to work with different personalities in city politics to move our community forward in a positive direction. Chris looks forward to the opportunity to serve his friends and neighbors as their Representative for Roswell City Council, Ward 2.

After a successful weekend of visiting with People both talking and LISTENING, which I thank EVERYONE for, I have concluded that…

“WE CAN NOT AGONIZE WE MUST ORGANIZE!”

There is one thing that this Campaign is about and it is CHANGE. I know that some People, including Myself, ( though I have literally WORKED My Body to the bone and I feel it more and more everyday) are living a good and comfortable life here in Roswell but, I would like to ask each and everyone one of You a simple question.

CAN YOU REALLY SAY THAT LIFE IS GOOD FOR MOST OF THE COMMUNITY ?

The answer that I have been told, over and OVER again is “ NO, unfortunately WE ALL KNOW WHERE ROSWELL RANKS.”
AGAIN and AGAIN I hear this …

So very MANY PEOPLE, no matter how long they have lived here, talk about and want to see change.

We also should ask Ourselves as, Me and My Wife do, what do We want for Our Children, The Generation that is coming behind Us ? What do We want to leave the next Generation? What future are They going to have ? What are They going to think of the place that they were born and raised in? Are they going to just LEAVE like so MANY other People have done almost as soon as they get the chance ?

All that ANYONE of Us have to do, as WE ALL KNOW and should ADMIT, is to DRIVE from One End of Roswell to the Other. There are NONE Of Us who are not close to seeing these issues on a DAILY BASIS. Do We want to CONTINUE TO LOOSE OUR NEIGHBORS ? We ALL KNOW WHY THEY LEAVE.

Remember the Census went DOWN. Tell Me how does a Census go DOWN when You have had the last 10 years to grow. I did feel though that there were some good things on the Horizon but for whatever reason that has SLOWED down pretty dramatically and apparently will continue to do so.

MOST RESPECTFULLY, as I wish the best for everyone , I truly do but, enough is ENOUGH.

It is TIME to “PASS THE TORCH “ as so many and I mean EVERYONE that I talk to, Rich, Poor and EVERYONE in between have told Me.

We most certainly need to thank those who have tried but it is TIME to Pass the Torch and let a NEW Generation try as the Previous Generation was most definitely given Their chance to change things.

The good news is that with each day and I mean each day, the MOMENTUM IS BUILDING FOR CHANGE. All are WELCOME and ALL ARE RESPECTED as WE ARE GOING TO NEED EVERYONE TO CREATE A DIFFERENT ROSWELL.

Roswell has touched bottom and there is only one way to go and that is UP !

This Campaign has barely begun but ROSWELL New Mexico, I CAN FEEL THE MOMENTUM BUILDING and CAN FEEL A CHANGE COMING !

WOW!!! I am so HUMBLED and more over I am PROUD that just in a couple of days since WE started this Campaign WE have heard such POSITIVE feedback!

I have told those who asked “ I have ZERO intentions of running a negative Campaign.”

“ We can not AGONIZE, WE MUST ORGANIZE if WE want CHANGE ! “

Look at the picture below , the signs are starting to pop up in Our Neighbor’s Lawns ! So PROUD OF OUR NEIGHBORS !

Our Neighbors and a BIG section of OUR Community have reached out to Me most earnestly, with a common request which is, PLEASE HELP ROSWELL move FORWARD. I will answer that call and request, IMMEDIATELY !

Moving forward and after much conciliation with My Family. I would like to announce that I am and will be a Candidate for Roswell City Council Ward 2.

I will work for and be RELENTLESS in HELPING the City of Roswell, New Mexico, move forward, TOGETHER with The City Leadership and most importantly the Community!

I am humbly COMMITTED to the GROWTH of the Community in which Me and My Family call home, Roswell, NM.

I am a pro BUSINESS, pro COMMUNITY and pro FUTURE Advocate.
