RIP Dolly Parton

The growth of Dolly's book stats was incredible – in 1995 in Sevier County, Tennessee, she began giving free books to children from birth to age five.

By 2000, the program began expanding nationally. In 2003, it mailed its one millionth book.

Tennessee took it statewide in 2004.

Canada joined in 2006.

The United Kingdom got in starting 2007.

It got all the way to Australia in 2013, and Ireland in 2019.

The milestones kept coming: 25 million books by 2010, 100 million by 2018, 150 million by 2020, and an incredible 200 million by 2023.

In 2025, Dolly’s Imagination Library celebrated 30 years of giving children books.

Thank you, Dolly. Your legacy lives in the hearts of millions of children.

There are lots of movies being produced from books lately --- think "The Odyssey" and "Remarkably Bright Creatures." We often complain that the movie is just not as good as the book.
