This Memorial Day, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

In honor of this special occasion, we also want to celebrate the past closing for the Elhammani family on their new home in Canton, GA!🏡🔑

We are especially grateful for Mohammed, an Army Veteran, whose service reflects the sacrifice and dedication we honor today. It is a privilege to stand alongside families like yours as you build a foundation for the future.

And we would be remiss to not mention the incredible community of volunteers, donors, partners, and supporters who played a role in making this dream a reality. Thank you for helping families build strength, stability, and self-reliance through homeownership. 💙

Nohemi's build is officially underway!

For Nohemi, owning a home means creating a safe, healthy, and stable environment where her family can continue to heal and thrive.

Nohemi has been through many life struggles, including helping her daughter through her battle with cancer. Throughout her life, people have doubted and underestimated Nohemi, but she is a tough woman who is willing to work hard for the things she desires in life.

She lives by the verse, "For where your treasure is, there will be your heart also." (Luke 12:34)

We are so proud of this family for starting their journey to homeownership. We look forward to partnering with them and getting them into a new, safe, and affordable home!

From Habitat NCG, Happy Mother's Day to all the fabulous moms out there! 💐

Today we celebrate the incredible strength, resilience, and love of moms everywhere - especially the women in our Habitat family. Many of the mothers in our program have faced immense challenges, working tirelessly to create stability and opportunity for their children. Through every obstacle, they show unwavering determination and deep care for their families.

We’re honored to walk alongside these amazing women as they build strength, stability, and self-reliance through homeownership. Their stories inspire us every day.

Some words of inspiration these moms live by are as follows:
Nohemi (top left) - “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” (Luke 12:34)
Nicole (top right) - "I lift up my eyes to the hills where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD the Maker of Heaven and Earth." (Psalm 121:1-2)
Monica (middle right) - “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.” (Psalms 28:7)

On April 19, we got to celebrate the people who make up the backbone of our organization - our volunteers!

At Habitat for Humanity, not only do we get to partner with amazing families, we also partner with these men and women - business leaders, Veterans, church leaders, prayer warriors, former first responders, woodworkers, parents, etc., who are all united in the goal to bring stability and shelter to families in need.

Many of these individuals have worked alongside us for years and years, faithfully dedicating their time to serving families in Cherokee, Forsyth, North Fulton, and Dawson counties.

Thank you to everyone who works to further our mission, from our regular volunteers, to our Women Build committee, to our Family Selection committee, to our board members. We really appreciate everything you do to further our mission and all the love you show to our families.

Working on this project for Joe and Greta was the most heartwarming experience. Our team and some community members came together to help this couple restore their yard to its best condition. In the course of 6 hours, their yard was transformed from a jungle full of leaves and overgrown bushes to a neat little oasis.

Joe used to sit on a bench at the very back of the yard. This bench was meant for solitary meditation, a place to find peace in the midst of chaos. When we got there, though, the bench was hidden by a mass of dead trees and ivy. After tidying up the yard, we moved the bench to a little alcove in the front yard. The last picture shows Joe reclaiming his beloved bench. :)

We also uncovered a beautiful peony tree that had been growing on the property as long as the couple had been there. Greta was thrilled that she once again had a clear view of this gem.

We are so grateful to have been invited into this family’s history. Right before we left, they told us they would be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in their yard. Cheers to Joe and Greta!
