Congratulations to Firefighter/EMT Aiden Hoppe and Vanessa Solinsky on successfully completing their probationary period with Riverside Fire District!

Since joining the department, both Aiden and Vanessa have demonstrated a strong commitment to learning, serving our community, and growing as members of our team. Completing probation is a significant milestone that reflects countless hours of training, dedication, and hard work.

Throughout their probationary period, they have consistently shown professionalism, a willingness to learn, and a positive attitude while responding to emergencies, participating in training, and supporting the daily operations of the district.

2026 hose testing is complete!

Nearly 9000' of hose was tested in just over 6 days. The on-duty crews and on-call staff made the best of a tedious, yet incredibly important task. Functional fire hose is one component of a safe and effective fire attack.

Here are some images of hose and components discovered during the visual inspections before pressure testing.

We are currently in the process of assessing our hose and nozzles for replacement and update while seeking grant funding where possible.

Thank you to all of the agencies that assisted in the successful outcome of this incident. We are grateful that all occupants were uninjured beyond minor scrapes.

With the beautiful memorial day weather,crews went out and trained on open water rescue using the new RescueOne boat.
Did you know that the boat and life jackets pictured here were able to be purchased because of grant funding? How neat is that!

An EMS week message from the Chief.

As we close out National EMS Week, I wanted to share a personal message.

To say I am proud of our EMTs, Advanced-EMTs, Paramedics, and Critical Care Paramedics (who are also firefighters) is truly an understatement. In 25 years in the emergency services, I have worked with many service providers. However, our providers never cease to amaze me. They build each other up, coach each other, encourage each other, and set goals for themselves. Their character leads them to be better providers to SERVE others in the field of EMS and firefighting.

It is my hope that as we continue to move forward in service together, that you get to know them, not on calls unless needed, but throughout our communities as you see them. Please stop and say hello and have a chat.

To the members of the Riverside Fire District, please know that I am thankful for you, your service, and dedication to continuous personal and professional development.

Besides being a statutory requirement, hose testing helps us identify failing equipment before it is discovered while fighting a fire.

We are currently 4000' in with another 4000' to go.

It is the beginning of annual hose testing!

Our crews will spend a couple more days testing every fire hose in the district. Today's objective was to make sure the machine was ready and the process was understood. Next week, we will be testing at another location where we can test 300' lengths. Unfortunately, we do not have flat 300' sections of ground on-site so the lengths were kept to 100' at a time.
