Thank you to Round Lake Fire Department and all surrunding agencies that worked hard on putting this fire down!

ROUND LAKE PARK, IL – The Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District (GRLFPD) and Round Lake Park Police Department responded to a structure fire at a mobile home on Bengson Court in Round Lake Park at approximately 10:00 a.m. today, April 7, 2026.

Emergency Response
Crews from Round Lake and neighboring departments responded and found smoke coming from the home’s doorway and from beneath the structure. Firefighters began an aggressive interior attack but encountered unsafe conditions as the fire burned through the floor.

During the operation, crews experienced intermittent water supply issues from the hydrants, which were unable to support the fire attack. A Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) Box Alarm was requested, bringing water tenders to the scene. This provided crews with a secondary water source, enabling them to successfully complete firefighting operations.

Resident Impact and Displacement
All residents were able to evacuate the building safely. No injuries to residents or firefighters were reported. Due to significant fire and smoke damage, the residents have been displaced. Local authorities and support organizations, including the American Red Cross, are working to support those displaced residents.

Investigation
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by GRLFPD investigators.

The GRLFPD extends its thanks to the numerous fire departments from throughout Lake and McHenry counties that provided mutual aid at the scene and assisted with additional emergency calls.
